Was basically a marketing event, pay a celebrity to show up and bring some international attention to the brand. Rizin probably wasn't well known to the casual fans outside of Japan before today.

Just reading that Mayweather disappeared for a while and during that time he was promoting his strip club in Las Vegas to get people to go and watch the fight in there.

 

Makes money in the ring while his club makes money out of the ring. But the strip club is probably where he wants to spend most of his time.

Saw it advertised as an ITV ppv show. Wasn't the Groves / Eubank fight ppv on ITV ?

ITV have been doing PPV boxing events for a while now, most of the super series fights were PPV on ITV Box Office.
