  1. 1. Peno?

It was a very soft penalty. Shouldn’t have been given but sometimes that happens. We can only control what we can control, so from Lovren’s perspective he has to defend better in that situation. He needs to stand half a yard off the player and jockey him. He’s running away from the goal and there’s no real threat, but Lovren was too tight, too keen, too amped up and the striker drew contact by sticking his right leg across and then he made the most of the minimal contact by going over.

Very soft indeed, but we should have been better and we should have scored more so as to not be vulnerable to a single dodgy decision.

Onwards and upwards. Chelsea lost. Man Utd lost. Arsenal drew. Weekend could have been worse.

Not a pen but you can see why it was given and wouldnt moan if it was going for us.

Several factors compounded the situation sending our very own fume scale off the reader.

1. Lovren was involved

2. Twat face took and scored the kick

3. We had been so completely in control but you knew we wouldnt have the heart to comeback from it.

4. We then proceeded to fling attacking players on like confetti in the ultimate football irony that you now actually want to score a goal- suggesting you were happy not to previously?

In a different game, in a different context, maybe. But in this game, I don't think there'd been a single free kick awarded for the same level of a push - I recall in particular one by the right side of their box where what looked like a much more physical shove on Gomez was given as a goal kick.

It's one where if it's given, it's hard to say it's definitely not, but hadn't it not been given nobody would say it should have been.

It falls into the category of not being a dive and "I've seen them given", but all outlets described it as 'soft' from what I can tell, so where the same offence hasn't been called a free kick in the preceding 75 minutes, it shouldn't be a pen.

The more you see it the softer it looks, and DCL definitely knew what he was doing. No idea how the ref is supposed to get that though, and soft lad didn't need to push him.

He didn't push him. His hand comes into contact with his back but its his natural running motion that causes his hand to be where it is when the lad jumps into him. He doesn't make any move to shove him, it's a completely natural movement.

He needs to stand half a yard off the player and jockey him. He is half a yard off him and he's jockeying, and the lad runs away from the ball and jumps into him.

Not cutting out the initial pass was the only questionable thing from Lovren in my opinion. The actual penalty itself was completely unavoidable and he did nothing wrong.

It's odd because it seems like almost everyone except Liverpool supporters thought it was a pen. The simple fact is that you can't put your hand on the back of an attacker in the box like that.

Regardless of the actual contact that was made, when Calvert-Lewin goes down, it looks like Lovren shoved him because of his hand placement. That's the problem and it's pure stupidity on the Croatian's part. Dive or no dive, he simply can't be doing that.

There's a reason why shit like this always happens to him and not Klavan or Matip. They aren't top class, but they aren't braindead and they don't shoot themselves in the foot.

Everyone except Liverpool supporters think that is because most of following a team is schadenfreude. We'd be laughing if it happened to Chris Smalling. It's absurd to blame Lovren and not the referee for buying Calvert-Lewin's outrageous but clever dive.

It's Mig's fault for mouthing off after the Stoke game and pising off the ref's union. Standard punishment is three soft pens so one more to come.

I take it you didn't see his "Tweet" regarding the champions league draw so?

"Porto it is, decent draw. Let's do this! #UCL #LFC

Fans, happy with our draw?

As for Lovren. He touched the bitters back. Unfortunately, in today's game, thats a penalty.

I'm getting more and more angry with the 'you can't put your hands on a player in the box' line.

What?

It happens IN EVERY SINGLE FOOTBALL GAME on planet earth when a corner is taken. It happens in every single area of the pitch and 999 times out of a 1000 nothing is done.

Putting your hands on another player is completely different to shoving a player in the back.

Lovren didn't shove him in the back.

Never ever a penalty. Even Mancs at work are saying so.
