Loads of people have fuck all money, Amazon is the only choice if they want presents etc, they're relentlessly told how ace consumerism is, etc, etc.

 

Obviously it would be nice if everyone took a moral stance, but I can see why some people don't or feel they can't. Or may simply feel that they'd just be replaced soon enough by some other cunt company anyway. All the more "ethical" type shops, be it for food, clothes, whatever, are fucking expensive. Especially considering how much people are told they need to buy. A society where people are told they need a new mobile phone every six months. One with the concept of "fashion". 

 

I don't know. We live in a society where the message is controlled by people with the same interests of this Bezos bellend. 

 

It's easier for me. Low maintenance girlfriend, no kids, etc. I have no interest or need to buy much stuff, I find it all a bit tedious, but I can see that lots of people, for different reasons, are in considerably more difficult situations.

I buy loads from Amazon (mainly Z Shops), I hate myself a bit for it but the majority of music I want isn't available in my local record shops.

 

Having said that, the record shop I do use regularly (Fopp) is owned by HMV so you can't win really.

I do use Amazon,not a lot because I don't tend to over buy and I'm not going to buy the latest gadget just a decent type of that gadget and keep it for a good while. If I had more money I would buy more from them,no doubt as they are usually cheapest and refund or exchange goods without much fuss. As somebody said, its the lack of regulation of corporatism and the lack of similar competition. I have noticed that the regular Amazon parcels delivered to my house for my kids are almost always foreign speaking workers,so its easy to see how Amazon can create and exploit these conditions.

It's not the fault of capitalism,as greed exists in any system,it's human beings and their innate selfishness and the extremely wealthy become disgustingly wealthy because they are prime examples of it. Poor people generally stay poor because many are the polar opposite.

That's exactly the kind of moral bargaining Amazon et al is counting on.  If you value a couple of quid more than your principles; then well they're not really principles, they're preferences.  Or is it just some kind of virtue signalling?

 

If you create the kind of environment where companies like Amazon thrive.  They'll thrive.
