Rather strangely, our school library had a load of Billy Bunter books. They'd probably be Fahrenheit 451-ed these days- some Indian prince nicknamed 'Inky', a wretched half-caste who was civilised by the public school system and a fat figure of fun- but they were a decent, fun read at age 11. I've still got no idea how their (fascist training) school was structured though, or what year the Remove or Shell were supposed to be. Several of these are available for free online, but- yet again- the covers and illustrations are more important to me than the simplistic stories. Oh, and Billy Bunter hardly features in most of them and yet has a pivotal part, a sort of Flashman-type character almost.
