It's not though. Male and female is pretty universal in nature and entirely genetic.

On this thread you can find different people claiming different things as the one, true, infallible determinant of biological sex.  You can't all be right.

You don't understand (or refuse to understand) the point of today's ruling.

The BBC headline says it all:

UK Supreme Court rules legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex

It doesn't.

I posted a link to the actual article, which contains a link to the ruling.

There's a reason you chose only to post the headline.

Okay, well I'm sure the Supreme Court will be happy to hear your legal representations against it.

The rest of us will just be celebrating now that women can't be forced to tolerate dicks in their safe spaces.

It’s important to note that transgender people are still protected by the Equality Act.

The protected characteristic of gender reassignment is not affected by this ruling, and Lord Hodge stressed there are other protections against direct and indirect discrimination and harassment.

He was clear that trans people are a “vulnerable and often harassed minority”, who “struggle against discrimination and prejudice as they seek to live their lives with dignity”.

i thought they were just people who got their cocks out in womens toilets?

You sure? It’s also in the summary.

Nothing changed in terms of protection for Trans people under the Equality Act, and rightly so.

What do the rest of the bullet points say though? Just looking at No.2 there, it would appear that absolutely nothing happened today so it doesn't make sense that it is the country's top news item & The SNP are backtracking on their pish.

Other than who points on the internet, has todays ruling directly impacted any of you?

It could potentially impact a lot of people in Scotland, not me directly but I have a passing interest.

I don't think the war in Palestine directly affects anyone on here either but there's a thread to discuss it, which is kinda how forums work.

The Kc on Radio 4 was saying it does mean that women can exclude men from various spaces provided they have reasonable grounds to do so.

When has this ever not been the case?

I think the original case was bought by women because under the original interpretation of the EA, public bodies in Scotland were appointing men to their boards then claiming they were women so they didn’t have to appoint biological women.

Don’t get shitty Mook. I was genuinely wondering if anyone was directly affected. Does anyone have a trans person close to them. Etc.

Put your hat on.

Yes, it changes very little. Hopefully less bad decision making and hiding behind insecurity from administrators in the public sector, unfortunately most online seem to just be seeing it as a licence for abuse and boring jokes.

That's the age we live in though.
