Brit Awards scrap male and female categories

Dua Lipa and J Hus will go down in history as the last stars to win best female and male at the Brit Awards.

That's because, from next year, the two categories will be combined into a single prize for best British artist, organisers have said.

Artists like Sam Smith and Will Young had previously called for the change, saying the current system excludes non-binary artists.

Smith, who is non-binary, missed out on a nomination at this year's awards.

Their album, Love Goes, reached number two in the UK chart, but they felt unable to enter the gender-based categories.

Have the organisers said it's because they want to identify non-binary or are they just updating the award and certain types have hit the roof implying it's "woke" ? I see the DM are going with "woke" in their headline.

You get riled by the phrase “woke” don’t you?

Fuck them, why do you read that shite?

Yes I do. It's used by shithouses who don't like being told not to be a horrible cunt.

I don't, I have a look at it to see how the other side report on things.

So you do read it then.

If a word that triggers you, isn’t about you then why let it trigger you? Wasted energy.

That’s called reading that Stig. Ignore them cunts, it’s not a real place.

Unfortunately it is and it represents a big enough portion of the country that we get shit votes like Brexit and Boris Johnson. You’re right though, I don’t know why I do it to myself. Makes me miserable

Maybe the sponsors are running out of cash.  Half as many awards?

They should just borrow some terminology from the League of Gentlemen and have awards for "Tails" and "No-Tails". Then we wouldn't need organisers bending over backwards simply to satisfy the egos of people like Sam Smith who don't seem to know if they're a boy or a girl.

This. It's reading for the sole purpose of getting wound up. There are some threads on here that I've started avoiding for the sheer levels of wham being chatted and I feel much better for it.

If you could avoid the Foodie thread that’d be just grand…

If he's non binary is he number 2 or is he not a number but a free man?

It’s all very strange.  If as a non-binary person he was having trouble having kids would he have to go to a doctor specialising in non-binary fertility or would he know exactly where to go?  It’s all well and good playing pretend but when we are all asked to play along it’s a bit much.

I’m with you, it was reasonable.  But about a million miles away from the received wisdom on the TRA side.  I also thought she was lying when she said she wasn’t close to the argument.

Nothing on the doxxing though?

Can it be doxxing if her address is on her Wikipedia page and has been there for ages? Not sure what the exact definition of the word is.

I think having a photo directly outside her house, showing her address to an audience who don’t like her and have sent her death threats is a bit off. If you don’t then, well, it proves a point.

I think lots of people takes photos directly outside J K Rowling's house - they are Harry Potter fans. The photos might show the address but that is irrelevant as it's on Wikipedia and one of her own websites apparently - it is not a secret so this cannot be doxxing as you and she claim. And I struggle to understand why she wasn't honest about her address being in the public domain because now I have a little less trust in what else she says. That's the point. I am not condoning protestors turning up outside her house or the death threats (but you know that).

Here’s what she said. (She does say doxxing - her view)

For you to think the woman who’s house is pictured  with 3 blokes outside it (and yes, I’m using the term blokes as they are clearly cunts) to have come out of this worse shows that you are a fucking moron.  They werent fans, they had no fucking reason to be there other than to intimidate. Once again, in case you missed it, you’re a fucking moron
