On Saturday, Rachel McKinnon said Davies was a "transphobe" and was "sharing hate speech".

This is the problem these days, you simply cannot say anything for fear of triggering someone.

This ia an issue that is likely to backfire. In fact, I think it already has. People rush to say somebody is racist, homophobic, transphobic, antisemitic, communist, Nazi, etc. It shuts down debate and free speech.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t be called out for their prejudice, I’m saying people are way too quick to judge and the definitions of what constitutes these things are shrinking to the point that if you put somebody wanting socialised medicine and railways to be owned by the state in the same ‘filthy Commie’ category as Gupag supporting Stalinists, or people who criticise Israel in the same ‘Jew hater’ group as Neo-Nazis, then people are liable to think... ‘well, okay then, if I am that, it isn’t such a bad thing to be’ and as a result the term loses its value.

Calling out poor views should happen, but demonising people who disagree woth a certain viewpoint is going to make things worse.

I saw a conversation on a (Sci-Fi) Discord server where one person started talking about the ‘feminine penis’ and another piped up to say that anybody who didn’t believe in the feminine penis was part of a lesser species, saying how it was ‘biologically’ a feminine penis because the oestrogen changes the penis. The person who was like, ‘erm, biologically? Not really’ was set upon as a transphobic arsehole. It was bizarre to watch it unfold. The argument, not the feminine penis. I think it was all in reference to this. I think it’s destructive to demonise people who push back against it. The article, not the penis.

They(*) run around with their fucking rainbows but want black and white answers.

Not specifically lgbtqvwrrt types, but people (all of us) who can accept non-binary responses.

as you say, it will lead to apathy.

Fucking hell, imagine rushing to call someone racist to try and shut them down?

Read the part about calling out prejudice. Hope this helps. Maybe stop defending people who say ‘don’t expect me to have a debate with one of your faggots [I can’t be bothered, mumble, mumble] maybe you’re just acting liking a nigger. White people dont act like this. White people are meant to be polite and respectful to each other and you guys can’t even act like white people’ and admitting you prejudge people, then you might not get called racist so often.

shutting down the argument has not worked so far, same as current drug legislation is a failure.

shit needs to be discussed and arguments broken down, all sides in modern discussion seem to spend more time shouting at each other to score points rather than aiming to communicate and understand each other's viewpoints and come to adjusted positions.

The oldies when I was young thought the world was mad, they had it easy. I genuinely cannot keep up, the lines are moving so fast I'm now probably 'phobic' this or 'ist' that and most of the time I'm just making a common sense observation with no ill will or hate.

Sharon Davies has now opened up on the whole transgender in sports thing by basically saying that transgender women should not compete in women's sport.

Anyone who believe that men do not have a physical advantage over women is just an idiot. Its not even remotely sustainable as an argument

My post got me thinking, if you pulled Jet and she pulled her pants down and had a willy would you still give her one, I think I would.

Depends on whether her pugil stick was bigger than yours, surely?

How that is not immediately trashed by trans/LGBT AND regular folk alike is ridiculous. A big part of the problem is their own community will do anything for promotion as well.

It is frankly embarrassing and counter productive to any real concerns/issues - it makes a joke of the whole kerfuffle.
