People need to relax, our record against the top sides testifies to this being a freak occurrence that was completely determined by a shite decision by a referee. It's never nice to lose in that manner but it's only 3 points in a game which we could have easily lost playing really well. I've no doubts we'll see a huge response on Wednesday, Coutinho back involved and we go from there.

So complacency in the answer,  City found a way to beat us yesterday by overrunning our midfield to expose the soft underbelly of a truly shit back 5 .  Klavan is pathetic ,Matip average, Moreno unfit for purpose, TAA not ready and Mignolet should have binned off years ago,  They played like lower teams do , high energy pressing and giving us no time on the ball . I am damn sure the other teams at the top will see that and learn which is why it is much more than a freak occurrence, Taking comfort and blaming Mane's red card is self delusion too,

Evidently not if you watched the first 30 minutes of the game, where we were carving city open at will. Yeah the back four were poor, Clyne, Lovren and Milner would be a huge improvement on the ones we had in their respective positions yesterday.

It's done whatever you think of the sending off. The problem is still there, the players, the system, the lack of adaptability/flexibility in the manager, players and tactics.

Nothing has changed yet. Nothing.

An arl arse keeper, cb and dm would improve us immensely, loads have said it for years, we're not talking world beaters here, just competent. A manager who doesn't really like spending like Klopp you would have thought would be able to identify them. But if he only wants 60m cb's who are we to argue.

Our scouts on the whole seem to be stealing a living, some of our players definitely are.

The sending off was obviously a key point but on reflection the game just highlighted how we haven't improved on our weaknesses.

We were well in the game up until the red card but a mixture of poor finishing and less than convincing defending led to us trailing when we shouldn't have been.

After the red card we just capitulated, which was a surprise to no-one who has watched us try to defend a lead.

I'm not really that arsed about this though because I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. We'll have a decent season and will batter some teams but when it comes to the crunch we have no chance of the league.

Sums it up well.

He was very good yesterday. And, to be fair, Sane and Jesus weren't too shabby either.

Yup, they have wasted some serious money but have signed some quality players as well, Sane, Jesus, De Bruyne, Aguero would walk into most teams in Europe

We started well and then got thrashed is basically it , We won't blow most teams away in the first 20 minutes. That was a lesson from last season. The other lesson was you win fuck all if you cant keep clean sheets to which our response was to bang our heads against a brick wall for a couple of months trying to sign a player that wasn't for sale. It's not good enough that we failed to sign a CB, didn't consider a better keeper, Klopp doesn't pick the best of a bad bunch of defenders in a key game and not good enough that he has no plan B when the shock and awe tactics fail.

And we have to accept that humans make mistakes and errors during games. As you said, they're humans being paid shitloads but being paid shitloads doesnt lessen human traits.

No, but you would expect a basic level of competence, commitment and professionalism.  We don't get the competence commensurate with the pay that these lads are getting.  we have a spineless midfield which all too readily crumbles to expose the incompetent defence.

I blame Klopp for persisting with these when it's clear that when the pressure's on, they too readily shit out.

We weren't particularly fast starters last season. You're being completely one eyed and selective in your assessment. Their goal came against the run of the play. Mane sent off, we never recovered they made it 2-0 and we threw in the towel. We've already battered Arsenal 4-0 and Hoffenheim 4-1, a team that just beat Bayern 2-0 this weekend.

Our record against the likes of united, city, chelsea, spurs and arsenal doesnt bear that out, that they too readily 'shit out.'

Yesterday wasnt a good day but, there are mitigating circumstances you either will not recognise or be prepared to accept.

The fact is Klopp made his team selection, made in game changes at least twice but was playing 10 v 11 for nearly 60 minutes.

I recognise the team too regularly shit out when the chips are down.  You seem to overlook the fact that it was completely unnecessary to concede (that's how you spell it) another 4 goals while not having a single chance in the second half.   What sort of tactics, and what sort of implementation was that?

I think our record up to Christmas last year was mainly as a result of fast starts, Anyway yesterday exposed a number of weaknesses and even if you only accept we threw in the towel that's bad enough . It was disgraceful we got beat 5 and having player sent off and conceding against the run of play are normal events over the course of a season. We lack experienced players like Gerrrard and Carra that can influence a game when things go wrong, Henderson is not in that league.

Your right we didn't last season, the problem is we haven't improved our midfield or defence and we have champions league this year.

If we'd played both games with 11 players and shipped 8 goals, you might have a point. But we didnt. We shipped 4 yesterday playing with 10 men for nearly 60 minutes at city. To read some of the comments here, you'd think we'd played both games with 11 men against teams of bournemouth quality.

At the end of the day though, the ramblings on an internet forum count for zip. Klopp isnt for turning. Those wishing for a new keeper, 2 new centre backs, 2 full backs and a defensive midfielder are in for a very long wait.

And in turn if you are right we will continue to be in for a very long wait for number 19
