Thomas Lemar

I reckon it's still a possibility. If Origi is involved there's another added complication too.

I would be happiest if we signed Lemar and kept Coutinho, but if it ends up that Coutinho leaves and Lemar comes in, plus VVD, AOC, and what we already have done this summer - Salah, Solanke and Robertson, plus Keita coming next season; then I will be happy with that.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out before the window closes.

Lemar to Liverpool off

16:15 Pressure was on Liverpool to complete a move for Thomas Lemar today - and now the transfer is off.

France face Holland at the Stade de France tomorrow night in a World Cup qualifier which Lemar is due to play in.

The Mirror claim that Liverpool were trying to be forced into doing a deal with Monaco before deadline day had even begun.

But Liverpool chiefs believed they didn’t have time to get the move completed and have backed out.

It leaves Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the main alternative before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

Mirror apparently plus the Ox deal stalled over price,

Never believed we would get both but expect we will cave in and pay the Arse £40m ,

Liverpool have reportedly put their plans to sign Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar on hold in order to focus on bringing in Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Reds emerged as late contenders for the signature of Lemar, who was coveted by Arsenal for the majority of the summer.

It is believed that the club were preparing to increase their offer to £75m, but according to The Mirror, the Reds have shelved their interest.

The report claims that Monaco are not prepared to sell for a figure lower than £75m, and Anfield chiefs feel that they will not have enough time to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool are now said to be focusing on coming to an agreement with Arsenal over the potential capture of Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has reportedly turned down Chelsea in favour of a move to Merseyside.

It appears that negotiations are not running entirely smooth following reports that the Gunners have rejected the Reds' opening offer of £30m, with the club angling for £40m.

The England international has one year remaining on his current contract at the Emirates

Let me put it this way. If this was off, the first person to report as much would be the first people who broke it in the first place. Paul Joyce, that fat Echo cunt Pearce, etc.

Why would the express and the daily mail get this swoop before them? They seem on the pulse and are tweeting things as soon as they happen.

IF we really, really want Lemar, we'll get him.

Barca are after him, we have a player Barca want.

I can see this very obvious game coming to a very obvious conclusion.

Barca don't have the cash to satisfy both us, and Monaco.  They will have to choose one.

We either get to keep Coutinho, or we get Lemar.

It was fairly obvious this wasn't going to happen. We don't close these deals out anywhere near enough. I'm sure it's not easy but the list of players we target and miss out on is mad really.

The AOC deal is easy really considering his contract situation.
