Thomas Lemar

Complete bollocks from Arsenal that. As if they won't have had personal terms sorted with him months ago. He's told them to fuck off clearly. We played a similar game with Salah earlier in the window. It looks like we are very good at convincing players to come here. Hopefully we now go back in with a smaller offer and they accept.

It seems that the only other club in the running for him has walked away because the player isn't interested in them.

Which leaves only us and Monaco, and a price difference of £5-10m.  I think we'll come to an arrangement.

They've got the following attackers in their team:

Ghezzal

Falcao

Carillo

Keita Balde

Diakhaby

Lemar

Lacina Traore

Jovetic

Adama Traore

Boschilia

Rony Lopes

And that's not including Mbappe.

They know damn well they've got scope to sell without replacing him.

Pumped up the price for us. Twats.

Walk away.

Nah, look at 12 months from now.  He'll cost the same, maybe more, but more clubs will be crowding around.  We might not have the same bounce/vibe as we do now.  We're on the crest of a wave, let's get the best possible players we can through the door and get to the next level.

The Excess via the guardian reporting arsenal's deal for Lemar is off!

Manchester City have been trying all day to get a deal for Sanchez over the line.

Arsenal have even been preparing for his departure by attempting to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

But the Guardian say a move from the Emirates to the Etihad is now OFF for Sanchez.

In a stunning turn of events, it is said that Arsenal will now retain the Chile international after talks over a move for Lemar broke down.

The best possible player is Coutinho. We shouldn't be doing Barca any favours to downgrade ourselves with an inferior player at a grossly inflated price.

Why keep on with the Express? They’re terrible.

They're sourcing david hytner of the guardian

Just in – Alexis Sanchez stays at Arsenal!

Alexis Sanchez is staying at Arsenal. That is the message from the club and it would now be a shock if there were to be any late turns to this infernal saga (it takes a toll, you know!). Manchester City came in earlier today with a second offer for the Chile striker – of £55m, plus £5m in add-ons – but it has come down to Arsenal being able to sign a new attacking player. Quite simply, they look to have run out of time on that front. They wanted Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and the French club demanded that they pay 100m euros for him. Which Arsenal indicated they were willing to do. But there appears to be insufficient time for Arsenal to now agree a package with Lemar, particularly as he is in the France squad for this evening’s game against Holland – which kicks off in about three hours. Were Arsenal able to get Lemar, they would have been inclined to take the £60m from City for Sanchez. But it is unlikely to happen now.

We likely won't find a better eventual Coutinho replacement and his asking price is about 40m lower than what Coutinho would cost if we were to sell him. How are we not pulling the trigger here?

Baffling.

I cant say ive watched Lemar play very much at all, but if hes as good as you say he is, why the fuck did we waste 40 mill on chambelain. By all accounts monaco were willing to do business at 93 mill.

Its almost as if we wre scared of spending big money

Everything that was written about Lemar and Liverpool was from the players' side. He was never a target for Liverpool (@GuillemBalague)

So who we were going to blow £150M on then? Ballague is confirming the club has been having us all on.
