Exactly Boss. Just build a very good team. We were a slip away in 2014, with glaring weaknesses. How many top class signings have United bought these past few years? They are still not going to win it. Arsenal have been a defensive midfielder away for 10 years.

We're always 4-5 players away from a title challenge. It's amazing how we sign about 5 players every season and stay exactly 4-5 players away from having a complete team. It's a gift really. Forever also-rans.

Maybe if we tried to buy players in positions where we are weak it might help.

Bit revolutionary I know.

Him & Ings staying are the reason we’re not going for a top draw striker. FSG aren’t gonna be forking out extra wages while these 2 are taking home £200k pwk between them and hardly getting on the pitch for us.

Exactly. Would anyone be really surprised if it turned out FSG wouldn't sanction a top class striker (with top class wages) until Sturridge is off the books?

The Sturridge thing is really odd it's like fsg insist on him being kept or something.. He has been dead for years.. Where we even linked to any replacements over the summer in a serious manner?

Or nobody is willing to pay actual money for him because everyone can see he’s finished. He’ll go somewhere when his contracts up or we loan him out and pay his wages. We’d realistically want about £30m for him because if he was fully fit and firing like he was he’d easily be worth £60m+ by now but not one club in the world would be willing to pay that much money for someone who could potentially be available for less than half of your games.

We sign a world-class striker, ie. a Suarez in 2011-2103 and suddenly the service dries up because we had to sell creative players to fund the purchase. Short blanket. Football isn't a perfect science. We can do better, but that's because of FSG's overly restrictive player parameters, not the choice of a striker vs winger.

I'd spend the £60m set aside for VVD on Aubameyang. Nicking a goal every now and again takes pressure of the defence, builds momentum and will make us a better side.

It means we would have to play 4-2-3-1 but Bobby and others would all get a chance behind PEA. And, on occasions, we play 4-3-3 and give our striker a rest.

If we had him at the start of the season I reckon we'd have 6 more points now.

I think his movement is excellent though, he creates space. Wagner yes, Giroud, Lukaku would not offer enough i.m.o.

Totally agree with your posts on this. It's obvious that Firmino adds a lot to the team as a whole, both in attack and defence.

Ideally you would of course replace him with someone who could do exactly what he does, but also scored 30 goals a season on top of that.

The problem is there is only a handful of players in the world that would offer top quality in both these departments, so unless we go out and get Suarez or something similar in quality and attributes (and price), then you need to make a trade off.
