Markovic, Moreno, Lambert, Balotelli, Manquillo and Lovren. What a horrific window that was with the benefit of hindsight.

Lallana, Can and Origi were the others that summer. Almost £120m there.

It was obvious most of them were shit/average before we bought them, alas we didn't even need hindsight.

It was. However, those first 10 mins or so after we signed Virgil, just before the realisation hit, magic.

I know what you mean.

I flicked onto Sky Sports and saw the big yellow headlines we had signed him and jumped around the lounge in a similar fashion to celebrating a screamer we might have scored at Old Trafford.

Part of it was such relief after sooooooooooooooo loooooonnnnnngggggg, endless days last summer googling his and Keitas name, having to put up with LeTissiers jibes.....

It's almost enough to make one think that it's worth taking the time to make sure you get the right players when you sell a big-money star rather than just "splashing the cash" all over the place.

* - granted, there's a very good argument that we should have made sure we already had some deals for the right players lined up before selling our big-money star, but still ... better not to buy than to buy wrong, for sure, as that window demonstrated.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

The Premier League has published figures for last month’s transfer window:

Clubs’ net spend was an average of £7m per club

Net spend is equivalent of 3.11% of total club revenue

Premier League clubs have spent a net of £148m in the 2018 January transfer window

Im pretty sure Jurgen will get some top targets in the summer. Neither am I particularly bothered we did not bring anyone in although a quality keeper would have been good. Others may disagree its up to them.

Who would you say he'll be after?

For me we need a keeper, a right back, a centre half, a creative midfielder and a forward.

Not sure we will get all those plus Keita though in one window, plus can be dodgy trying to get that many players in and settle/gel in one hit...

All points are valid.
