January 2018 Transfer Thread

Why is the only alternative to one long term target a short term target? What a load of bollocks.

Why the fuck does his club and our manager not have more than one long term target?

Live in the world you live in, not the one you dream about in your head. If somebody isn’t available, then by virtue of that fact, he can no longer be a fucking target. It doesn’t make sense. The concept that these unavailable targets are suddenly going to become more available in the summer (post World Cup) is also hilarious. It’s more goal post shifting spin that we get peddled to every fucking window.

I would love to sign Messi but he’s not a target BECAUSE HES NOT FUCKING AVAILABLE.

If our bench is threadbare now, what was it over the last couple of seasons when we had kids like Ejaria, Ojo and Kent and were forced to play Lucas and Can at CB? In the past 12 months we've off-loaded one player who was desperate to leave and brought in four first teamers with one more already signed for the summer.

What is the point you are making? Yes we had shit squad in the past. Our squad is now slightly less shit.

They’re still both shit squads, just different shades of brown.

What part of short term dont I get? You mean the short term solutions we have put up with for years like Jones, NGog, Bellamy, Kean and the like? You keep going on about a threadbare bench. That the same bench that had Lallana, TAA, Milner, Klavan, Ings and Solanke on it? OK Ings and Solanke have not got many goals no surprise seeing as they have not played a lot. To be fair to Ings, he looked sharper than any of the front 3 when he came on.

I thought Bellamy was quite a decent short term signing second time around.

Came on a free, had that aggressive winning mentality and loved the club.

The end of game handbags with his long time personal enemy Reo-Coker was good entertainment value as well.

My point is we're on a steady upwards progression under a good manager so stop cry-arsing about everything endlessly.

Talks continue over Dortmund's Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has been in Dortmund with the club's head of recruitment

If Aubameyang gets done, Dortmund want to replace him with Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud

There have been reports linking Danny Welbeck with a move to Besiktas. But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said he wants the forward to stay

We are told Inter have made an offer to take Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan for a fee of around £1.5m, while our Sky colleagues in Italy claim Roma could also make an approach

If Sturridge joins, Inter will allow Eder to leave, with Palace wanting a loan deal for the player, but the Serie A club want to sell for £10m

We are told Antonio Conte wants Edin Dzeko and the Roma frontman wants to return to England. Chelsea is the only club he would leave the Romans for

There is another element to the Dzeko deal, namely left-back Emerson Palmieri. We are told Chelsea would pay up to £50m to sign both Dzeko and Palmieri

Chelsea are also monitoring Leicester's Islam Slimani. The striker's agent is working hard to get him a move having seen his game time limited this season

Newcastle have signed Kenedy on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season

Aaron Lennon has completed his move to Burnley from Everton, signing a two-and-a-half year contract at Turf Moor

Palace have signed Poland international defender Jaroslaw Jach from Zagłębie Lubin on a three-and-a-half year deal

We are told Man City want Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte

Javier Hernandez's agent has told us the striker is open to the idea of leaving West Ham and the Hammers would let him go for the right price

Even with steady progression at some point you have to press the turbo button if you don’t want to lose what you already have.

We need two top attackers and at least one midfielder and a goalkeeper before we’re capable of a title challenge. If we don’t get all that sorted soon then we’ll be looking at Mane or Salah angling for a move.

We’ve made huge progress but it’ll be for nothing unless we press the fast forward button at some point soon.

Last night was a huge set back. Just as all Europe sat up when we beat City, they’ll also be well aware we reverted back to old habits against the worst side in the league.

Or at the very least agree these transfers before the World Cup kicks off.

Spot on there. Only thing I’d change would get 1 extra attacker and go balls deep for timo Werner and 2 more top class midfielders in alongside Keita, as our current midfield is fucking awful.

Inter Milan have made a £1.5m loan bid for Daniel Sturridge with the option to buy him at the end of the season.

Liverpool enquired about Athlétic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte this January before pulling out of a deal due to the expenses. Laporte has a €65m buy-out clause.

Reports say James Rodriguez could replace Philippe Coutinho at Anfield this summer

I trust Jurgen and accept that sometimes patience is a virtue , but the worry is that football's transfer market is going that fast these days that when you have made your mind up on a target you have to get the deal done even if you pay a premium. The way we are doing it we may get our targets in the summer but our own players are also a moveable feast and it's pointless in a playing sense finally getting Keita etc. if Salah disappears at the same time.
