The main issue with getting Goretzka as well as any other player clubs like Bayern want to sign is convincing them we are going to win things. It was telling that Bild focused in on this when Goretzka was apparently considering us. We aren’t viewed as a club in that league and for that reason for every Van Dijk we convince there will be plenty we won’t.

That German league must be boring tho. It’s got to be the biggest 1 horse league in the world

Edit: and Munich’s boring as a city too

I can understand where we are coming from with Lemar. I think we were somewhere near the absolute max price for him when we were fighting Arsenal in summer ( £80/90m ) and I certainly wouldn't be looking at going to 3 figures for him judging on his performances this season.

Can’t see anything in him at all to justify that quoted price. Got a bad feeling he’ll turn out to be more bakayoko at Chelsea or sissoko at spurs than an M’bappe. I’d happily swerve this one onto arsenal for £90 mill

We’ve got to get a striker in asap, even on loan. Sturridge and Ings are going and we don’t know how Firmino’s heads gonna be with all this shit going on and Solanke’s never gonna be the answer for a club with any ambition.

Other than that, I’d settle for us landing Alisson, Goretzka and Timo Werner on pre contracts for this summer.

Ings is staying

And that’s should be Goretzka’s response if he chooses here. It’s all well and good saying you won’t win trophies at Liverpool but the title over there has become a procession whilst they also stand little chance of winning the European cup. Nobody who signs for them and wins stuff is ever going to say they’re worthless but that’s exactly they are if nobody can get near you.

Barring the Leicester freak season we are about to hit a watershed moment in the premier league. The money hasn’t just improved the competitiveness and quality of the Premier league it’s also damaged the foreign leagues. They are so desperate to keep up with the top English teams in Europe that their teams outside of the top 1/2 don’t get enough of the money their league makes so it’s ruining it.

The prem should watch that and realise the thing that has made the teams so much money is the unpredictability. If they can’t think of a way to rein City in and stop it being a permanent top 6 it gives those leagues a chance to catch up.

The one bit of hope I’ve got with city is that Pep gets off soon, otherwise they’ll dominate for years with him. It’s all well and good saying he’s got the money but they’re always gonna be taxed higher than the rest on transfer fees. If he’d have brought in Messi, Ronaldo & Neymar then he’d be deserving of the buying success shout, but other than Kyle Walker (who we all rated as worse than Clyne) I’d never heard of the others he’s signed and he’s got them playing some amazing stuff this year. That’s what good scouting should be classed as imo.

Yeah don’t get me wrong he’s a top manager, probably the best. The problem the prem is going to have is that if they let a team who have the best manager also have infinite spending power as well then it’s going to get very boring very quickly.

Pep has spent what over £50m on two keepers, he has spent over £50m on one full back. I am not fully up to speed with who he has brought in not being a city watcher but he has certainly spent the cash in the short time he has been there. That said part of the problem for us and others chasing City is that the rest of the PL does not really put up a fight against them. Look at Watford conceeding in 39 seconds. It has happened with us Chelsea and Manchester United in the past some teams are prepared to almost gift them the points and put up a fight against the rest of the teams in the Premier League.

That is why I was disappointed particularly by the Everton / West Brom home games before Xmas , as we were starting to get that aura where teams were coming here expecting to get walloped and it naturally occurred.

The most stupid utterance ever by a manager in my opinion was Ron Atkinson saying that ' all you are ever going to get at Anfield is a cup of tea ' which legitimised a lot of teams basically not even trying thereafter.

Klopp isn't really the type to shut up shop and play for a draw though, do hopefully we can catch them out next week.

Klopp is always 10x more irritated by teams getting a spawny 1-1 against us by playing hoofball, than he is by a team actually playing football against us and winning by about 3 clear goals.

Everton surely.

Sounds mental just writing this, but then imagine that Catalonia secedes and Messi is available on a free. Then imagine for a second that, Moshri knows that Ronaldo is unsettled so he goes and drops a suitcase of cash in Madrid...
