I wanted us to sign Maguire before he went to Leicester. And Vardy for a while too. And I said I liked the look of Ward-Prouse at Southampton. And Maddison at Norwich.

 

Again, not a single person has said that you have to buy every player from a big club. I've merely highlighted that we've tried to find a bargain keeper or one who could raise their game a level.

 

It's an approach that's largely failed and costs us points.

 

Thus, I now want us to go out and buy a keeper who's played with and is used to the pressure of expectation and who is, at the least, pushing to be the number 1 for his country.

My point is we've bought from lesser clubs for years and most of them have been shit. James, Friedel, Westerweld, Dudek, Kirkland, Carson, Mignolet, Karius. There's only Reina that's been a success. Maybe we could unearth a gem but if we've got the money (Which we fucking should have) lets make it a priority to buy a proven top class keeper which can take this blossoming group of players and brilliant manager to the next level.

Compared to what we have today he’s worth about 20 points a season. In addition our chances in the cups would improve.

 

Dont know what price to put on that, but it’s high. If I could pick one player in the PL for us I’d say it’s between De Gea, Kante, De Bruyne or Kane. Probably in that order too.
