Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's transfer value has doubled since the summer, according to a study conduced by Swiss research group CIES Football Observatory.

The England midfielder joined Liverpool from Arsenal in a £35m deal at the end of the transfer window.

CIES specialise in using scientific estimation of player's transfer value.

On July 1, they had the 24-year-old valued at €27m, but despite a rough start to life at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain is now valued at €58.7

Yeah. Mhmm. Okay. Yeah.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Virgil van Dijk still fancies a move to Liverpool. Just because the transfer window ends and a player finds themselves stuck at a club, it doesn’t suddenly make them want to be there. Van Dijk will play for Southampton, but his heart clearly isn’t in it.

In fact, Van Dijk has started early. The transfer window has been closed for just over a month, but Van Dijk is already talking up a move in January.

“I have no regrets,” Van Dijk told Fox Sports. “Halfway through the season, maybe we can see what’s possible.

“I’m glad I’m fit again and I can give up to 100 percent. Of course, I wanted to make a step up, but Southampton did not want me to sell me. But you’re a professional, so now I’ll give everything to the club.”

That’s lovely, but it’s the “maybe we can see what’s possible” line that sticks. Of course he’s going to push for a move

200 million for Harry Fucking Kane!!!!!

Hoo boy. It’s certainly easy to predict the Spanish media when it comes to Real Madrid and Barcelona. Simply choose a paper that backs either of those clubs, pick the player in the world most in form and then wait for them to link said player with said club.

Don Balon are the latest to show off the trick. They say that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is preparing a £177m offer for Tottenham striker Harry Kane. Of course he is.

In fact, Don Balon use quotes from Eduardo Inda of Spanish TV programme El Chiringuito. “Real Madrid are asking for Harry Kane for next season, but they know the price and it is 200 million euros,” Inda apparently said.

Don Balon take this flimsy information and run with it. They say that Real will sell Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in order to buy Kane and Paulo Dybala. Those are some very optimistic sums

Its just fucking willy waving, isnt it? Madrid wanting to show they can spend stupid amounts of money while barcelona had to sell a player for an equally stupid amount. No doubt psg will be along in a minute to show they can spend a similarly big amount despite threats of UEFA sanctions.

It's fucking insane Jimmy, Makes you wonder how much Suarez, a young Torres and King Kenny would be worth nowadays

Totally agree. I can remember when a £60,000 transfer fee was considered massive. Now even squad players in the PL can earn that and more in a week!

Luis Alberto, the player we sold for £3m last year, is now one of the best players in Serie A.

This is the problem we have sometimes when signing young players who are highly rated. If there's not a route to the team for them, they stagnate. We've seen it many times before. But on the other hand, if they play enough first team games to have a proper chance to develop and reach their potential, does it hamper the club's ambition while you allow for that, especially the higher up you go in the league?

It's a tricky balancing act. For my money we are more in balance on that right now than we have been, and I've been encouraged by TAA, Gomez, and to a lesser extent as he's barely featured yet, Woodburn.

He's off to Bayern

I don't think he is mate - wasn't he flashing his eyelids at Barcelona?

Jiminez from Atletico is a free I think as well, him and Ghoulam would be ace. I noticed that the lad from Madrid Llorente who played for Alves and few hipsters put forward last season is into his last year as well.

It's finding the right young player to invest time into. We would've been foolish to invest time and energy into Danny Wilson, for instance, but Sterling on the other hand was a masterstroke.

You can usually tell the young players that are going to make it because they exude a certain confidence about them. Woodburn showed that for Wales in their qualifier and TAA likewise in the Hoffenheim away game.

Solanke is the one that baffles me the most. Solanke is one of the most decorated youth players of all time. He's won the FA Youth Cup multiple times. He's finished top scorer and player of the tournament in virtually every international tournament he's played in. Why is he not getting a chance?

Players like Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren, Klavan, Wijnaldum, Sturridge and Ings are just clogging up the team and stifling opportunities for these young players. We need to ship them off and start blooding these lads in alongside quality signings.
