Someone on here came up with a plausible summary of what may be happening - it is similar to what happened with Sturridge.

Klopp is making him prove fitness with a 10 day 'pre-season' and he has to complete all 10 days in a row without missing or breaking down before he is considered fit for selection....

If he misses a day he goes back to day 1and keeps going until he gets to the 10 uninterrupted

Seems plausible to me.

I was told a few weeks back that he's getting the thiago treatment. With him we kept thinking he was a few days away, but he never healed because he was always semi training. So in the end we ordered complete rest like it was a new injury. That's what we've done with Keita.

He'll be like a new signing...

Should have been gone last summer, this was always going to happen. As it will next season if he isn’t gone this summer. Just one of those ones which hasn’t worked out - better not to chase losses and to bring in someone who is reliably available. It’s a one in one out policy in the main, so his constant lay-offs hurt us twice over.

He has to go this summer, but I assume he won't because with Gini leaving, we won't want too much turnover in midfield. I'd be surprised if we let him go.

The other problem with him is he offers zero versatility whatsoever. Say what you will about Chamberlain, but he came on yesterday, played 15 minutes on the wing and was good. Gini can play on the left of the midfield 3, or the #6. Henderson plays on the right, plus the 6, plus CB now. Fabinho plays the 6 and CB. Milner plays in the advanced midfield positions and fullback. Jones can play in midfield, #10, and the wing. Thiago can play anywhere in midfield. Keita on the other hand, has shown no other value in any other position.

Keep him the fuck away from his national team and their twatbiscuit of a coach while this shit is going on.

Guinea records first Ebola deaths since 2016

Quote

At least three people have died of Ebola in Guinea, with five others testing positive for the virus, health officials say.

They fell ill with diarrhoea, vomiting and bleeding after attending a burial.

Between 2013 and 2016 more than 11,000 people died in the West Africa Ebola epidemic, which began in Guinea.

But in response to that epidemic several vaccines were developed, which have since been used to fight outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ebola infects humans through close contact with infected animals, including chimpanzees, fruit bats and forest antelope.

It then spreads between humans by direct contact with infected blood, bodily fluids or organs, or indirectly through contact with contaminated environments.

Community funerals, where people help wash the body of the person who has died, can be a key way of spreading Ebola in the earlier stages of an outbreak.

The bodies of victims are particularly toxic. The incubation period can last from two days to three weeks.

Dr Sakoba Keita, head of Guinea's national health agency, said more tests were being done to confirm the situation in the south-eastern region near the city of Nzérékoré, and health workers were working to trace and isolate cases.

The World Health Organization's Africa director, Matshidiso Moeti, tweeted that the global health agency was "ramping up readiness and response efforts" given the potential resurgence of Ebola in Guinea.

An Ebola vaccine was first trialled over four months in 2015 in Guinea - started by the Public Health Agency of Canada and then developed by US pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).

One hundred patients were identified and then close contacts were either vaccinated immediately, or three weeks later. In the 2,014 close contacts who were vaccinated immediately there were no subsequent cases of Ebola.

From club site...

Naby Keita has returned to training but will not be ready for Liverpool's Champions League clash with his former club RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

The midfielder has been sidelined since featuring in the Premier League win over Crystal Palace in December, though moved closer to a comeback by joining his teammates in sessions at the AXA Training Centre.

Keita is not going to be involved in the last-16 first leg against Leipzig, however, with further rehabilitation work on Merseyside preferred for the No.8 this week.

“Naby is no longer injured but he’s not fit yet,” said Jürgen Klopp at his pre-match press conference when asked for his assessment of Keita’s time with the Reds and an update on his condition.

“He was in training yesterday but it’s not sufficient yet. We will be away for two days and he will be in training; it’s better than flying with us. Of course Naby would have liked to be there when it’s against Leipzig.

“He has had some very great spells but obviously you have to say he has had too many injuries as well, which hasn’t helped a lot. But he has played some really great games for us and scored important goals, has contributed to our success last year; he was always involved despite the injuries.

“These were unfortunate moments when you look at his injuries, it was just minor things that [ruled] him out from the team. But he has got an excellent perspective and is a great player.

“In terms of injuries, we all have to go through these difficulties and once that’s behind you, we’ll have another absolutely great player.”

If he could just stay fit long enough to give Gini a rest. What was his injury record like before us.

He did high 20's in the league per season I think most years. They only play 34 matches, so a decent record. The worry I have with him is he's never looked like he could cope with or fancied  the physical demands when he was in the pitch, so you wonder if he's one of those fellas who thinks he can only get on the pitch here if he's 100% pain free.
