Oh fuck off. Another one. It's absolute fucking lunacy to be playing international games in the middle of a global pandemic.

For meaningless friendlies to boot

He probably contracted it prior to the break given the incubation period, although internationals are a stupid idea regardless. I’d also prefer that European competition were minimised, but that’s not going to happen.

I think the apparent explosion in cases shows a real issue with football during a pandemic when the country isn’t really locked down at all; unless you maintain discipline and force players & their families to stay clear of any sort of socialisation, it’s going to happen with increasing frequency, particularly as winters draws closer. I wouldn’t be surprised if this season’s most successful / over performing clubs are those that go furthest in maintaining a ‘bubble’ from top to bottom.

All the players are supposed to be tested when they return from the internationals I think. Unless this is a false positive like Shaq's, Im guess we're going to see quite a few more players test positive when they do return. This is what Jurgen was talking about recently when he said he feared for the players.

FIFA and all the other confederations need to stop international games for the foreseebale future. UEFA might have to do the same with its club competitions as well.

If any other players come back with it, we should just refuse to release players until there's a vaccine.

Players hold the power, they want to play for their countries so that’s a non starter imo.

I dont want this guy to play whilst VVD is out. It feels like he leaves spaces all over the place. Good at winning back the ball further up the pitch but disappears in our half.

Klopp’s pencilled him in at centre back.

Never going to see the player we thought we bought.

Yes I agree. I think we were scammed, £57m plus wages so probably at least £70m pissed away.

What’s wrong with him now then?

Prob not match fit because he had to self-isolate.

Took a knock in the final training session before leaving for Amsterdam. Left out of the squad as a precaution.

He's another waste of time. He's been such a disappointment in every way. We need to figure out a way to get some decent money back on him this summer as it'll be 3 years and I don't want is giving him another contract.

Putting aside all of the hype before we signed him, and then after we signed him before he arrived, he'd be a pretty uninspiring below average signing, for the time we signed him. But bring all that hype back into the equation, and he's been a massively underwhelming disappointment, even when he has managed to string more than a few games together.

We can only hope that Michael Edwards is working on a plan to maximise our return form him to some European side, because it's fairly obvious, he's not cut out for the physicality of the English game. Usually, a player will at least maintain their value, but it'd be hard to see, with a long history of injuries absences, and then lacklustre performances, how Keita's value would not have fallen appreciably.

I fail to see when we'd sell him. It's obvious Wijnaldum is going. Thiago is basically his replacement. They'll have similar standings in the squad and we've done that ahead of time because the contract is running out and we anticipated the situation.

But with Keita, we've rarely just admitted defeat on a signing and sold at a loss. I'm sure he's still highly rated by many, especially in Germany, but it's hard for me to believe we'd sell and replace him just like that. Klopp admitted mistakes at Dortmund and sold some players quickly, but this was a 50m signing. Much bigger financial implications.

While I'd be happy for us to bin him I'd be happy for us bin AOC as well. It appears Wijnaldum is leaving, and Milner will too.

So we'd be left needing to sign at least two central midfielders next year.

I guess ideally Wijnaldum would end up signing a new deal so at least we'd be left with -

Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Wijnaldum and Jones.

Jones has done nothing to suggest he'll work out in our midfield three.

    • He has summed up what every single other football fan in the country thinks although.... they've never been relegated have they? Some lad in our year went into one when I told him that Everton have never won the european cup. He was convinced they "must have" at some point. They just create things in their heads. Its quite amazing actually.  I don't know if you're taking the piss but the top picture is the champions league without his glasses, the bottom picture is a gas hob when he puts them on. In other words, reality kicks in for them as a gas hob is the closest the pointless shit cunts will get to the special nights with the prestigious teams in the world.  Hahahahahaha "everyones against us" nobody gives a flying fuck! Aston Villa have won the european cup. Everton haven't. Wigan and Pompey have won more trophies than them this century.
    • They've just fucked VAR to death. It doesnt matter whether they show the incident to the ref in real time, slow motion or any other speed. The on pitch ref is being overruled by the VAR 'ref' and that was never the intention.   The implemention of VAR was supposed to be an opportunity for someone to tell the ref he should look again at an incident as there was a possible infringement he's missed.   What we have and now always will have is another ref looking forensically as Crouchie has said at goals, offsides and penalty challenges. They are making the decision. Only now they are saying to the on pitch ref 'You've made a mistake. Ive reviewed it and it's a pen \ foul \ handball etc. Go have a look at the monitor and you'll see Im right.'   I saw nearly all the tv ref's say the decision for the pen clearly showed the 'clear and obvious' test had gone or been substantially lowered. Only one cretin said clear pen.   Really, I dont know why Im bothered. Not even this covid stuff has shaken by love of football but this VAR shit is just shit. Why fucking bother? Games are a complete lottery, which VAR and on pitch is going to screw you over today? I may as well invest my time in watching 'Im a celebrity' and other shite on tv. It's as big a fix and offers me the same level of entertainment, fuck all, as football does right now.   Pre VAR, you'd be unlucky to be on the end of 2 or 3 really bad reffing decisions a season that affected the outcome of games. We've been screwed 8(?) times in the PL alone this season and we've only played 10 fucking times!   I dont give a fuck whether a clear injustice is done to united, everton, arsenal and the rest. An injustice is just that no matter who it is made against. You cant hide behind well yeah it's united so funny as fuck because once it's you, it's no longer funny and tribalism is a sure fire way nothing will ever get fixed.   Even with our chronic injury list right now, I was quietly confident we could retain the title. But with the lottery VAR has made football now, Im not sure because unlike shite decisions of yore 'equalling' themselves out over a season, VAR doesnt work like that.
    • Ndombele is fat and lazy, and even he has had more of a run of games than Keita has in the Premier League.
    • Having now watched the game we were awful. The players selected should still be too much for Brighton even with weak links. Tiredness takes its toll. Honestly with the injuries and fixture pile up I cant see how we truimph this season after 2 seasons of sheer graft and force of will. The lads have been incredible but this season is one kick in the bollocks after another.
    • They were only ever top subject to Villa not winning their game in hand.  They seem to have thought they were running away with it.
