So, Naby's groin has gone again and will take no further part in ACON. Well, who didnt see this coming? It really, really pisses me off that international football has goosed one of our players again.

What makes it more annoying is everyone knew Naby wasnt ready to play but, a combination of an international football manager who couldnt give a fuck and the player himself who wouldnt rule himself out, has lead to this.

We used to call ferguson for preventing Giggs playing for Wales with his dodgey hamstrings but let's be honest, he had the right idea. Thanks to FIFA and UEFA, neither managers nor clubs can do what he used to do but it still absolutely baffles me why the European Club Association or whatever they call themselves these days, arent doing more to stop their players having to turn up for internationals when injured or recovering from injury.

Maybe this should be in the shitness of modern football thread?

Could well be one of those seasons where we start with a hobble and a limp due to international football, with our players returning knackered.

If only there was a transfer window to make sure we had a squad capable.

Ginsoak's cunning plan always gets dredged back up, but the truth is FIFA changed the rules to stop managers like him simply saying a player can't join up with his national team. If a player is now called up he has to go, and if a club say he's injured it's down to the national team's medical staff to assess his condition and either agree with or overrule the club.

Ha, what a brilliant bit of policy. Can't see any issues with that, at all.

Keita's house 'attacked by angry youths'

Police in Conakry have confirmed that Keita's family home in Guinea was besieged by angry youths at the weekend.

"We sent a team of policemen to a house at Coleah in Conakry to restore calm after some youths attempted acts of riotous conduct in a house believed to be the family home of footballer Naby Keita," a police source told the BBC.

Local media reported that the youths were venting frustration at one of Keita's relatives who they believed had performed witchcraft, affecting the Liverpool star's Nations Cup performances and increasing his recent spate of injuries.

Guinean press said Keita had denounced those "who want to divide his family".

Anyone know if there is any mileage on this internet rumour that we’ve got a work permit problem with Keita because one of the conditions on his work permit was that he pass an English exam to show he has a certain level of English, but that he hasn’t done so?

I've heard Rooney has had the same problem in the States.

Maybe. Depends if he got a work permit under tier two or tier five.

Harry Kane is fortunate to have been born here.

So we won the Champions League with an ineligible player, yeah?

No. Supposedly he was granted a permit on the basis he learnt English to a certain level by a certain date. The club arranged lessons but Nabby started skipping school and allegedly will be unable to meet the deadline. If true, detention beckons.
