I think that proves this is Klopp's decision!

He is wrong, and it smacks of Roy Evans. But it is his decision.

I remember us being linked with Babb for maybe a week before that deal was done. A week with the odd snippet on teletext constituted a transfer saga in those days, and it was known that the fee would be a British record for a defender. Within hours, we'd also added Scales for only a bit less than the Babb fee. I couldn't recall seeing anything linking us to Scales before we signed him.

If there is any real truth in the VVD and Keita or nobody story, I don't think that means that Klopp and the club haven't considered any other options. It just means that he doesn't want the club to sign second and third choice targets. We have had a habit of throwing our money away by doing that for years now, and I'm pretty sure players (or more specifically, their agents) are wise to it. Also, a player joining the club as a second or third choice is more likely to reach 'unflushable turd' status.

There is a world between "first choice" and "unflushable turd" IMO.

S is it still correct to say the turtle is showing it's head when you are really in need of a shit or can you say either the turtle or the tortoise is showing it's head?

This is an idiom unrelated to taxonomy, so I think only turtle is appropriate in this instance.

James Pearce in The Echo: "It's VVD or nothing for #LFC in terms of defensive signings"

Liverpool ready to pounce if #Hoedt deal changes Saints' Van Dijk stance (James Pearce)

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-ready-pounce-hoedt-deal-13507146

So to clarify we are going to wait for a club who have said over and over again they won't sell to us to change their stance when they sign this new player - despite them saying that this new signing changes nothing...And if they don't then we won't pursue any other target instead.

What a joke LFC have become in the transfer market

Something is wrong behind the scenes and there is a story that will come out at some point.

If we cant sign him this window, how are we sure we can sign him later? he has a 5 year contract you know.

We can't be sure, but clubs have rarely kept a player who wanted to leave for more than a season, and I don't think we could be done for any tapping up once this window is over and so would be free to actually bid for him from January.

Brandt isn't gettable until next summer, when he has a clause and Pulisic isn't gettable period.

No clue why we didn't go back in for Dahoud, though.

brandt is gettable if you put the right money on the table, he just isn't if you're tight. we were getting told in january from the LFC press posse we were still in for pulisic when he'd just signed a new contract and we didn't go back in for dahoud, because he'd sooner join dortmund. this is my point. there's no point waiting for years so one day they might sign. you have to solve today's problems today and if a player is unavailable for whatever reason, you need to go and solve the problem in a different way. it seems our different way for midfield is Milner.
