Nonsense to be blaming pickford.  He did what any keeper worth his salt would.  Do you expect him to just stay rooted to his line and let Virgil have a tap in?

Different story all together with the Richardson one, horrible tackle and he knew what he was doing.

He did what any keeper would have done? Is that why every spectator, pundit etc who saw it said it was a red?

Yes it was a red and a penalty.   A collision which happens when playing football.

Stupid cunts who've never kicked a ball calling for him to be kneecapped, need a good shoeing themselves.

I at least partly agree with him. I honestly dont think Pickford intended to hurt Van Dijk. It was just a very clumsy, rash challenge. And the clearest red card you’ll see.

The Richarlison one was intentional, he went in to hurt his opponent.

I think he intended to wipe him out under the guise of trying to make a save, no danger.

I agree with people saying he needs to be kneecapped are stupid but I am pretty confident I've played more footy than you and that cunt knew exactly what he was doing.

...

We can never know - but one thing is pretty clear the officials aren't providing any protection against career ending 'tackles' like that one

Watch that back. Keeps come out arms in the air all the time. That was the kind of shit that would make Bolo Yeung wince.

I feel sick, worst part is VVD May potientally never be the colossus that we’ve witnessed the last 2 and half years. Fucking devastated.

If it is an ACL and 8 mths or so then question is how many nigh on 30 year old defenders have managed to come back same as were from such an injury.

Everything crossed these reports are all bollocks.

Prickford was aiming for the player, he was not even in the same postcode as the football.

This. The ball was well gone. He was trying to put in a hard tackle to show he cares. He easily could have snapped VVD's leg. I remember Gerrard making a few and the same, horrible awful tackles. No place in the game trying to fuck someone up just to show you care.

It will/would be very tough, but all is not lost as you know. I understand the anger and frustration but you don’t just lay down and die. Robertson, Henderson, Salah And Mane won’t lie down. TAA, Jota, Wijnaldum, Milner either.

I'm sure we won't just lay down and die. But it will probably cost us a dozen points or more. Personally I think if he's out we need to tweak a bit and go back to smashing teams. We saw today you've just basically got to hang the ball up and we've nobody can defend the ball. We're going to need to aim to score bundles this year to win matches.

Regardless of age, plenty of sportspeople have never been the same after a bad ACL injury and even if that’s not the case, there’s no guarantee he'll 'only' be out for 8 months - we could be looking at a year or more. I would assume the scouting department looks long term, so I'd hope there’s a plan to accelerate the purchase of a major CB target if it is anything like a worst case scenario.

If Virg is out for the season, and assuming we’ve got Alisson and Thiago fit, then I think we drop down to the level City are currently at.

With Virg we are the best team in the league. Without him we’ll still smash most teams but there are going to be games where we get had off like City do now.
