Many a true word spoken in jest , from the BBC Sport website

age: Joe Root captaincy formula: 1. Pick Bairstow 2. Bowl first (inexplicably) 3. Bowl OK, bowlers take early wickets but struggle to dismiss the tail with short bowling 4. Collapse in first innings and be at least 100 runs behind (no matter what the opposition got) 5. Tired bowlers bowl rubbish 6. Set 300-400 in last innings and 2 days to bat out 7. Pray for Stokes from Alex, London

Fucking hell, is that true?

From Cricinfo- This is also England's highest opening partnership since Chennai in December 2016!

Decent opening partnership but Sibley threw his wicket away after getting in. Nice knock by Burns so far. Sets up an interesting day tomorrow but we all know how this line up can collapse.

We stayed for the Blundell 100.  Great knock.

Quite looking forward to the England chase today.

Be interesting to see what happens if England can get to lunch without losing any wickets or maybes just the one. It would have to be a record chase at Centurion, but records can be broken.

Shows you how the game changes quickly, a few years back it was a case of roles reversed for England and the Aussies and now you lot are getting back on top of your game.

Fuck, Burns out for 84 to a short ball from Nortje (his first ball of the day as well) top edge and simple catch. Not sure why he went for the first ball of a new spell like that, just watch a few before working out pace/length.

Another 230 looks tough - even wondering if they'll score quickly enough to get them.

Time isn't an issue mate, got today and tomorrow if needed. Been a bit of a slog this morning though and the bowlers have bowled well in that first hour of play. Need to get through to lunch now and try to get that chase under 200 without losing another wicket.
