And most times he just goes... like that.

He's not a technically gifted batsman mate, he just has one game and does't err from it. Clever bowlers work him out quick, Maxwell just plays the same on any surface.

He's a domestic cricket bully, and that's about it.

He's not alone in that respect. But yeah, his game is just suited to loose bowling or flat tracks.

Without Smith this would be a very one-sided contest. He's given your bowlers something to defend and it could get better if one of your tail-enders stick with him. Still fancy England to chase down anything around 230/240.....if, and it's a big if, they bat sensibly.

another one bites the dust, good catch. Rashid has been expensive in the context of the game, but he now has 3 important wickets.

Yeah, maybe.

I still think the problem is players like Stoinis and Handscomb. They're not even close to being good enough.

In Australia, Maxwell gets into arguments about being a No 4.

The other two - yeah, Bradmanesque, in an Adam Voges understudies type of way.*

* Voges, 20 Tests, average almost 62 - an astonishing statistical lie.

Looking sub-200 here now.

Yeah, Smith needs to farm the strike, you could still get 220.

Pretty much everything has worked for Eoin Morgan and England today. Brilliant opening spells. Archer brought back to get rid of Maxwell. Rashid three big middle-overs wickets. Puts slip in for Cummins, catch taken
