Good effort by Afghanistan with the ball, especially after SL got away to a flyer. Raining now, maybe's a D/L revised target will help SL out big style. 182/8 after 33 before rain.

Great game between NZ and B'desh with NZ sneaking through after a great comeback from D'desh. They've already beaten SA and if they can hold onto the belief will cause more upsets. I'd piss myself if they made the Semi's. India won pretty easily against SA in a low scoring game, SA in real trouble at P3 L3.

Wouldn't be surprised if SA lost every single game. Worst batting line up in the tournament and without Steyn they look utterly toothless with the ball. They're not even fielding well, something you used to be able to rely on with them.

I doubt they'll lose every game. SL are just as bad and although Afghanistan are improving they'll tire and start getting twatted big style. I also doubt SA will make the semi's now, big inquests will be held no doubt

Windies rattling through the Aussie top order now. Aussies 36/3 off 7 overs. 

 

Make that 38/4 now....they just can't handle the short pitched bowling, trying to take them on instead of building a partnership, really poor batting. 12 of that total are also extras.

It looks more like the West Indies are trying to take them out instead of get them out. Fuck me some of those bowls I've just seen are just pure violence

Playing to their strengths mate, and it's working. Can they keep this fast bowling up for the whole tournament though. There's a lot of games in a shortish period of time, injuries and muscle fatigue will kick in at some point. They do however look like a great bet to win the whole thing.

If the Aussies can keep this up to about 150 the pendulum might swing back to them. Be a shame on the Windies like.

9 games with quickies bowling a max of 10 overs each per game - in a month or so - isn't a Herculean ask.

 

I think the Windies are a big chance the way it's looking right now.

 

Great, bold tactics from them, I reckon.

 

Fair play to them, if they can pull it off.

They could post a dependable target, a lot depends on Smith. He and Carey have done the sensible thing in building a partnership and then opening the arms a bit. Another wicket for the Windies though and a possible decent total will crumble. Interesting game now, plus we can't forget that this is a good wicket to bat on, the Aussies are still way behind Par.

West Indies should still chase down 280/290 or whatever it is they'll end up needing, but they've fucked this up. Should have gone for the throat at 150 for 6 to bowl them out. They look a bit clueless now, just waiting for the 50 overs to finish.

My cousin is the chairman of Liverpool CC and he is optimistic that if they do a good job of hosting this week it will stand them in good stead for the future.

Wasn't it Gaffaney who gave a few not outs against the Windies bowling in the recent tests against England, the Review system saving him by a whisker on each occasion? He's on the Elite board of Umpires, God knows why. 

 

I agree with Whispering Mike Holding, the review system rarely saves the player/bowler, just the Umpire and giving marginal decisions.

They've just shown the ball before the decision to give Gayle out and it was a No Ball by a mile which meant the ball that got him should have been a free hit. So Gaffs galore by Gaffaney.
