I've never seen Pope play but he has scored a heap of CC runs this year so I think it's a good call. He's 20, so at least he's got a future. Malan is 30 (or around there) and averaging less than 30. He's had a decent run at it so time for a change. We don't have a huge amoint of options unfortunately - most of them have been tried and failed.

 

The Lancs player is Haseeb Hameed - he played a couple of tests in India in 2016 and looked very promising. He then broke a finger and has since been in dreadful form for Lancs so not pickable for England. He is still very young though so plenty of time to come again.
