They've been doing that for a while on the CricInfo site. Sounds a bit weird, but then I guess you just have bowler, rather than bowlsman, so it's no big deal.

Crazy goings on in the county championship.

 

Lancs , Warwicks and Hampshire were the 3 potential winners.

 

Lancs have just scraped past Hampshire by one wicket after needing 2 runs to win with 3 batters in hand , meaning they are champions if Warwickshire fail to beat Zummerzet. Warwicks presently 100 ahead with 9 wickets in hand and one day left.

 

( I was following Lancs on the text report on BBC Sport and plunged into despair as wickets tumbled , with Lancs on 193 for 9  the dreaded three dots appeared with the update ' WICKET ' and I turned the air blue and booted a cushion from one side of the room to the other. Then after my child-like tantrum abated  , I noticed the wicket was at some other game and the line above had popped up saying ' LANCS WIN BY 1 WICKET ' )

I can't make head or tail of how the CC is structured this season. There were (apparently) ten games each initially and then they formed three divisions with the top teams going into the first one? And they carried points over or something?

I gave up trying to understand it when I felt a migraine coming on.

Yeah they had it streaming on YouTube so I caught the end. Brilliant

I thought county cricket had finished, but obviously they had to get another game in- the cricket equivalent of the charity shield as this article describes it-

The season is getting longer each year. They'll have to change the rules soon so you can choose between the heavy roller and a snow plough between innings.
