Today India lost their final 7 wickets for 31 runs, with 5 for 11 before their bowlers swung their bat.

These are very good players of spin, Root took 5 for 8, probably some of the best bowling figures ever.

This took place on the second morning, in relation to time playing.

The pitch was not good enough.

edit, just found this;

Most

economical five-wicket haul by a spinner in Test history on Day 2 of the Pink-ball Test against India in Ahmedabad.

Root broke a plethora of records as he ran through the Indian batting lineup with figures of 5 for 8, his maiden five-for in first-class cricket to help England bowl out the hosts for 145. His figures are the best by a spinner in Test cricket, beating the previous record held jointly by Australians Tim May and Michael Clarke with 5 for 9 against West Indies (Adelaide Test 1992/93) and India (Mumbai Test 2004/05).

Seeing a test match end in two days is a bit crap but on the plus side these sort of games are going to bring the crowds back in a country that lives for 20/20

I know it was hard out there today but there were at least four or five players in the England side who threw their wickets away in Sibley,, Bairstow , Crawley, Pope and Archer .
If those batsmen could have been arsed to knuckle down then we could and should have been going into day 3 with England still in with a good chance of a win

If you look at the dismissals in isolation then it looks really bad. That completely ignores the context though. When so many players are getting out to straight balls, it's not because they are all shit, it's because they haven't got a fucking clue what the next ball is going to do (because of the pitch).

Have you seen the news from the Windies vs Sri Lanka 20/20? The Sri Lankan bowler Dananjaya got a hatrick in one over and was plundered for 6 sixes in the next!

Guess you’re only as good as your last over

Bowlers yet again pulling England back into the game, great stuff from Anderson, Leach and Stokes

After the last match though the way England bat they need to bowl India out before they get any sort of a lead.

The bowlers have done better than I expected but the batters have done worse. I mentioned ages ago I was surprised at us not taking a 'horses for courses ' approach and leaving our best opener at playing spin  Jennings , at home.
