3rd test at Port Elizabeth. Hot, Humid and a flat pitch which is bowlers nightmare and a batsman's paradise.

England won the toss and are 61/0 at lunch without any big worries. Slow pitch means it won't be quick scoring but you should be looking at getting at least 400 runs first up.

That's a dreadful shot by Sibley, fell straight into the trap of a leg slip. Idiot.

Crawley is also not looking good against spin, like a cat playing with a mouse and this is a pitch doing very little. Surprised he is playing off the back foot still.

148/4 now. On a pitch that has done little (slow and dead) the ball has started to produce uneven bounce and a bit of movement. England batsman let themselves get bogged down due to the slow RR and it seems every ball that the SA's actually bowl well is taking a wicket atm.

Eng 224/4 at close of play. Excellent partnership of 76 between Stokes and Pope to repair the earlier damage. Slow scoring pitch and I'd say both teams are happy at the moment. Obviously a lot will depend on the current partnership and if one of Stokes or Pope can carry their bats or go on to make a big score. Stokes looks in good nick and Pope assured, he looks better at building an innings as certain batsmen ahead of him in the order.

After a bit of a famine there does seem some signs of an upturn in the batting line-up , and a lot of the positives are fairly young in cricketing terms. A top 3 of Sibley, Burns and Crawley seems decent. I think the Sri Lanka tour might give a better idea of where the newbies are.

50s for both Stokes and Pope. Rabada's also been banned for the next Test- http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/1213301.html - which seems a bit harsh.

They've just been talking about that on comms, Holding isn't too pleased with the ban and I agree. You can't take passion out of the game, if it goes a bit OTT then a fine would suffice, how many other players have acted the same after taking a wicket and yet only received a fine? lLoads.

As it is, things going really well between Stokes and Pope, hopefully they both make tons.

Stokes clobbering sixes. What a player he's become.

I love it- plays himself in, then starts the hammer, very sensible and he can really take the game away from the opposition as he's so destructive. The sort of player I was hoping Buttler et al would turn into.

More discussion on Sky (KP).....saying that Rabada has accumulated the points and thus the ban, no sympathy for him from KP who says he's sorry for his captain and teammates though.

Stokes passes 4000 test runs with a boundary (95 no). Best all rounder the game has seen in a while.

Brings up his century now, another great innings so far.
