New Monchengladbach manager from June. Hope he does well.

Interesting move. I don't know if as a coach he is a stickler for dominance of possession like he was as a player, but that isn't something Gladbach normally play with. He does have Bundesliga experience mind you. Gladbach's form has taken a bit of a nosedive ever since their coach Marco Rose announced he was heading to Dortmund in the summer.

Interesting that Gladbach currently rank 5th in the Bundesliga for pass completion and 6th for possession according to the offal Bundesliga site stats. On other sites, they also sit among the top 5 teams in both categories.

Only Bayern, Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Leverkusen have better pass completion stats than Gladbach at this stage of the season - 84.2%. The same 4 aforementioned teams plus Wolfsburg have better possession stats - Gladbach apparently average 51% possession.

As you say, they've certainly dropped off performance wise since the announced departure of Marco Rose, so it would have been interesting to see those stats had Rose's departure not been announced.

Whilst not "dominant" in possession, they are certainly a possession based team.

I look forward to him being replaced by Gareth Barry.

He'll probably reject the option leading to Alonso being appointed by Real Madrid.

Well he's been 'replaced' by someone else already. Monchengladbach are reportedly not making Alonso manager and someone else is lined up for it according to Kicker!
