Yes, I'm sure potentially thousands of redundancies is great for the economy. That sun must be getting to your head.

Short term redundancies from these fuckers could be beneficial, tenancy rates would I imagine drop, the kids who have got barista skills and work on zero hour contracts may just have enough gumption to use their skills and setup their own indie coffee houses.

I left the UK 10 years ago, the coffee thing hadn't really exploded to the size it has now, the market has been created by these fucking behemoths invading the cities, the trouble is the product is generally bland buckets full of shitty coffee.

Australia has had coffee shops for moons cf. neighbours, Starbucks, costa et al are very few and far between in the major east coast cities, they came and got fucked off as people prefer local coffee places, people in the same office, will have their own favourite and there are thousands of independents making a living.
