I bought this excellent, nostalgic book last year. It contains loads of beautifully photographed footy shirts from the past. Various football fans, collectors, celebrities and ex-footballers pick their top 5 favourite shirts.

My top 5 (non-Liverpool) :

1987-88 away is my all-time favourite Liverpool kit. I could've had a top 5 comprised of just LFC shirts, which would've been a bit boring, so chose not to include any.

Was my first ever LFC kit.

It's quite impressive in a way.

It really is something special. When John Barnes opened the international academy here in Australia, I just had to get his autograph on one. Straight to the pool room with that one.

    • Nah, if you look at Transfermarkt and sources like that, they played mostly 4-4-2/4 triple 2, either the normal kind or in a diamond (they call it 4-3-1-2). And his most played position was on the right and then the middle like you said, but they tried him out in a bunch of positions.   So I don't think you can say well, he's a #10 and we've never played him there so that explains part of why he's bad. He's played in loads of other positions throughout his career. And Salzburg do have a pretty similar style to us in terms of pressing and intensity, that's pretty well documented. The style and position shouldn't really be an issue. He's just not been good on the pitch for whatever reason.
    • White's arm looks ahead of his foot anyway.
    • I was just thinking, wasn't there var in the champions league the season we won it, last year?    I don't remember them stopping for ten minutes after every goal to check if someone was a fanny hair offside or not.    I could swear that mane got given a goal against Porto that looked off but was actually got clearly onside. Or am I delusional?
    • The ref is supposed to be the ultimate arbiter.  That's what the rules say. Let the VAR ref look at it no more than three times at normal speed and if he can see that there is a clear and obvious error (not just that he might have called it different) then let him ask the ref to review it at the monitor. Otherwise stick with what the arbiter of the game thought at normal speed. The starting position should be that (right or wrong) what the ref thought is right unless he clearly fucked up because he was unsighted or something.  For offsides, let the linos flag and the ref allows the game to carry on for a few seconds but only if there is a clear and imminent goal scoring opportunity.
    • It's funny hearing people say united are 'in the title race' after 9 games, especially when the same people were saying we werent in one despite being 9 points clear half way through a season. Hey ho!
