A Sainsbury’s local up until recently. I’m sure it’s a restaurant again now, went past it months ago

I've no doubt posted about this elsewhere, but my grandad was a joiner and worked in the yards on the Tyne a lot.

They refitted Cunard liners a few times, when the old stuff was stripped out everyone took loads of the old gear home. Apparently a lot of people in North Shields and Wallsend would suddenly end up with "new" carpets and such like out of it.

We've still got some old cutlery and stuff like that which came off one of the liners when it was refitted here.

Quality! I’ve heard the Wallsend yards did a lot of stuff for the Navy, so battleship grey was the favourite colour of paint for houses in the district.

Nope its just a boarded up sainsburys local. Went past it earlier.

Easy mistake to make as I think virtually every outlet on Bold Street is a restaurant

Not strictly old Liverpool but I think this is as good a place to put it.

Good read about Liverpool One and the post pandemic city.

I used to read it in the build up to Capital of Culture, back when there seemed to be more of a vision for the city other than student flats, stag and hen parties, failed property developments,  and further decline of some of the tougher areas of the city.
