There are a load up here of when they build the Tyne bridge. Just blockes loitering about on top of it giving absolutely zero fucks. 

There was a programme about that bridge a while back and someone who worked on it said that there was a foreman who fell and killed , he had a bad habit of walking on the steel with his hands in his pockets apparently, nuts.

My grandad was a joiner, mostly on buildings, but spent a lot of time in the ship yards as well and had some horrific stories about accidents in there. 

 

He was pushed into being a joiner by his dad who worked down the pits and was adamant that no son of his would end up in the mines. 

 

You look at the likes of those building photos and the pits and I can't decide which would be worse. I certainly wouldn't want to be doing either of them.
