Strange they didn't go for a GTA5-type release schedule- get it out on PC and current consoles now and then do an enhanced version for the new consoles a few months later to get the double-dippers.

CDPR do seem less cunty than rockstar, and certainly less than EA.

Oh definitely, Rockstar are cunts when it comes to the PC. It would have made a bit more sense in this case as they might have been able to get the game out more quickly, and the market for the new consoles won't be that big for a while yet.

Rockstar and GTA V on PC... I revisited GTA online recently. Fucking hell they’re dragging that out. The ‘do a 20min mission for 8k when a neck tie costs 100k’ bullshit is crazy. It’s basically a vehicle for ‘buy our online money’. Luckily I got a billions dropped. The amount of stuff in that game to buy vs how long money takes to grind is crazy. 10m for a yacht, Club 6m, MC and businesses 10m, HQ and garages 10m, bunker 6m, specialist vehicles off the charts. If you tried to buy everything legit it would take some serious grinding or lots of real money.

As for Cyberpunk, I see your point on the staggered release. I guess they really are just getting it ready before release. What do they think this is, the N64? One does not release a working game in 2020. One releases Early Access for 8 years so you can pay for the build.

Haha, quite.

GTA Online makes an absolute fortune, despite being a hackers' paradise, so naturally they're going to milk it completely dry.

And how they milk it. I mean, GTAV is absolutely mega when it comes to revenue. Didn’t it make a billion on day one? We are now about seven years into it. As a business, that’s pretty amazing.

I think it's made well over $6 billion now, I'm sure it was noted as the most successful 'media product' of all time. Pretty amazing as I always found the GTA games a bit boring...

I've been trying to get my hands on the 3080 FE, but they're like rocking horse shit. I might try to get one of the 3070s on release tomorrow. The price/performance vs the 2080Ti is pretty incredible.

I'm due a new PC next year- I'm still using a 970GTX- so hopefully the availability and prices will be better by then.

I'm rocking the 780! I've updated the rest of my PC in readiness for the 30 series. Just need to get my bloody hands on one now. I'd like the 3080 or even 3090. I'll eventually water cool the whole thing. What I'm really waiting for is Star Citizen to become a proper MMO. Once that's done, I'll update the rig again, so I figure a 3070 will handle everything I throw at it until then. That said, quantum computers might well arrive before Star Citizen, so...

Haha- to be honest, I can't really justify upgrading other than that I don't want parts to start failing on my current PC- it's 6 years old now so it's unlikely just to go boom but I could do without the hassle. The most demanding game I've played recently was probably Witcher 3 and that held 60 fps at medium- high settings quite easily. I'm not that interested in the really big budget tentpole games, but the ones I have played run fine anyway. Still, I'd really like to play at 120 or 144 fps for the experience.

A lot less cunty;

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-will-be-playable-on-ps5-and-xbox-series-x-dev-reminds/1100-6482397/

While Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch, this is the standard version of the game that is enhanced by the power of those consoles. A separate version of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X is also in the works, but it won't be here until 2021 at the soonest. Whenever it's released, it will be available as a free upgrade if you have purchased the game on the previous system. It'll need to be in the same family, though; if you have the game on PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version. Either way, it will be an easy way to keep playing once those upgrades arrive. Keanu will look even more realistic.

A lot, lot less cunty;

The Witcher 3, the previous game from CD Projekt Red, will also be receiving an enhanced upgrade for next-gen consoles. This version of the game will feature ray tracing and other visual improvements, and it'll be available as a free update for anyone who owns the game on Xbox One or PS4. It's an unusually generous move for a game that first released more than five years ago.

Aye, they did similar with the original Witcher game, released an enhanced version months after the initial release, and gave it to previous owners free of charge. That was a massive update too.

I have played FPS games at quite a high level, so 144/240/360hz really, really makes a difference, not just in smoothness but reduction in latency. It’s practically a cheat if you’re the n a 240hz vs a 60hz. For other games, especially stuff like Witcher, I’d say that most of the time I would sooner have size, like one of those monster-sized ultrawide beasts, over refresh. That said, they’re even pushing out high refresh rates at high resolutions on those types of panels. Technology is mental.

After watching a fair amount of leaked footage of Cyberpunk 2077 over the last few days (some players got early copies of the game sent by mistake and have been streaming, copyright claims have had most of that removed now though) I'd probably agree with what some of the reviews coming out now are saying I think : awesome game but tons of bugs. Hopefully the day 1 patch deals with a lot of them.

50 gig patch according to PC Gamer. The original Witcher was an absolute bug farm when it was first released, but CDPR cleaned it up and released an enhanced version for free to owners later on. Come back in 6-12 months for Cyberpunk, it'll be 60% off by then too.

It's already pre-downloaded on my pc. I've been waiting 7 years for it though since the first teaser trailer and I've also seen a decent amount of the bugs from watching streamers, they're not game breaking just distracting and occasionally frustrating. I'm the type of player that usually laughs at them though, maybe from being so used to it in games like Skyrim so it's no big issue for me really and the first patch should clear a good few of them up.

Fair enough- I'm due a new PC next year, so will pick it up then, be a nice game to put it through its paces.

Not going to bother.

Couldn't get a next gen console and after playing AC and how hard it's driving the xbox one I won't bother. Decided to put it on the back burner anyway now.

I'm enjoying working on my tabletop miniatures and it's a nice break for starring at screens so probably won't bother for a good few months and just play my unplayed stack of last gen games.

Let's the new games come out, bugs sorted etc
