Klopp on whether he is looking to sign a big African defensive midfielder.

"Second balls after set-pieces, another defensive midfielder would not really be around this situation so it does not help a lot. Half-spaces when counter-pressing does not work, another defensive midfielder [does not help], it's all about organisation. We did already much better in the last few games and we improved around set-pieces a lot. Simon [Mignolet] did a wonderful job, especially in the second part of the season with all the crosses he caught. The good thing is now we know our mistake, we know our weakness, so we will work on it 100 per cent, you can be sure."

But he had Kehl and Bender at Dortmund.

Tieleman has signed for Monaco for €23m, why is it that Monaco, Atleti, Porto, Juventus etc all seem to sign players for relatively little when they're on the verge of world class then sell them in 2/3 years for three times the price? When was the last time we or Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal for that matter have done it? Is it an ego thing with rich English clubs that "we'll see what they are like with the next step up and pay the higher price if they succeed because we can afford to"

Just guessing but I would imagine it's to do with player demands. If the fee is relatively low the player plus agent will probably make outrageous demands to ensure the player goes to the club that gives the best contract.

English clubs seem to have a tighter wage structure (or so it seems). Just a guess.

Tax haven in Monaco? Great place to live for a rich person? Just won the league in France? Will be in the CL?

It's a good choice for Tielemans. There are plenty of bigger clubs to go to in 2-3 years if he keeps progressing. Arguably if he goes to one of them now, he might see a fair amount of time on the bench as well.

It's all about managing your career, innit?
