Wouldn't it be great to have good players waiting in the wings to replace very good players when they not in the side?

 

If the planned lynchpin in our challenge this season was a player who was always going to be away for 5 weeks during the most gruelling part of the season... we deserve what we're getting.

 

This Cup of Nations tournament wasn't hastily arranged on December 31.

 

And if Mane constitutes a lynchpin, we're a long way off.  He's very good, but perhaps no Messiah.

 

I wonder whether, deep down, Klopp et al weren't really expecting us to be top 2 anytime this season.
