Again nothing new there.

Fine when teams give us a game, crap when teams dig in and just wait to sucker punch us. When teams defend with numbers we are just to easy to play against if they have a decent organised defensive unit. Crying out for width and pace to pull the defenders about, those who were doing it earlier in the season are looking knackered and without Mane we have very little natural width or a player to ghost into the box unmarked.

We just lack enough good players. This would be our ideal team for me, if we could clone players.

Hendo---Matip---Matip---Milly

---------Lallana--------Coutinho---

Mané------Firmino----Mané

We have a wafer thin squad full of losers. The first part is why we're struggling physically, the second why we're struggling mentally.

There isn't anyone in midfield to take tactical decisons, even for very small parts of games. A meek captain, a brainless hair model, and a couple of middle distance runners. It isn't good enough.

The thing I hope Klopp is going to pick up on sooner rather than later is the set up of the team is what is causing us the problems. We can whinge about the quality of the players but they've proved they can be good and generally we are running the same amount we have been all season so I don't personally think it is a fitness issue.

At the moment we completely rely on the full backs for width so the opposition are all clearly employing the same tactics of filling out the centre of the pitch and not worrying too much about the wide areas. Last night was another prime example of it.

Our full backs were an 18 year old kid and a right footed Milner. Since Klopp has arrived we've pretty much set up the same way with 433. Every single team we now face just employ the same tactics and even if we get a result we still struggle regardless. We need a set up that will force teams to not play in that manner.

It's hard to see how we could do it with the players we have available now. As daft as it might sound setting up as a 442 with Moreno wide left has to be an option.

i'd actually go three at the back and play with natural width....the width coming from full backs is just leaving us exposed as there is no cover when we lose ball....they targeted our right side all first half...

play 3 at back and one can tack over when needs be on side danger is plus the extra bodies in midfield can offer more cover

problem is with our lopsided collection of am's amd no.10's how do we set up in attack/midfield

Feel sorry for Origi as he's the only forward we have who we can change our style for yet he's been reduced to bit part roles once again. Please Jurgen, stop indulging Sturridge as he's not a good fit for how you want to play.

To be fair, the lad is wank.

There was one time last night where Lallana and Milner played a couple of nice one twos on the run and it ended with Lallana in behind, although he was out wide and he had to play a cutback to no one.

There was another one where TAA had the ball out wide, had a bit of movement inside with two players making good runs, he picked out Firmino nicely who had a weak left footed effort when a ball to Coutinho might have been on.

Those plays were only possible because we were attacking quickly and players weren't afraid to try some forward passes that might not have come off. We were doing that sort of thing for fun earlier in the season. That's the point of the counter-press, if we press really high really quickly when we lose it we can play loads more risky killer passes, because it doesn't matter if we lose it or not, we'll swarm and get it back straight away anyway.

Not having that we're being out-thought by teams who are basically just sticking their back four on the 18 yard line and using five screening midfielders in front. Teams have done that to us for years and years and years now, they do it to the other big teams too, especially Arsenal. Thing is, when we've been good this season we've been blowing teams away regardless of how they've been trying to set up. Watford tried it and we fucking annihilated them 6-1, Boro and Stoke tried it just last month and we battered them too.

So that's why for me it's down to physical and mental tiredness from the players. We're seeing more shithouse passes and slow ponderous buildup play because the players haven't got the gas to be making the runs off the ball that they could do easily earlier in the season. But more than that, they know they haven't got the legs to counter-press as hardcore as what they could either, so they're more scared of losing possession now too. It's like a double whammy of shitness. That's why need a bigger squad, especially if we're gonna be playing in Europe next season.

100% agree. He runs fast and is strong, does a few flicks and dragbacks. He's thick as shit, doesn't use his pace right at all, his movement off the ball is terrible.

He can't run past defenders with the ball at his feet most of the time. Plenty will say he is still young, but in the big scheme of things he has had enough playing time for both club and country to be kicking on, if truth be told he has regressed.

I'd never heard of him until the World Cup and I was genuinely excited when we bought him but I agree that he's regressed since then. Looking back maybe we'd have been better off bringing him straight here, that real bad season he had in France and the stick he got for it maybe has halted his progress, more mentally. Like when he's playing well he's fine but as soon as he hits a bad spell he goes into his shell. Sell him with another buy back/sell on clause attached and see how he goes. Doesn't look anywhere near good enough for us at the moment.

The injury he picked up didn't help, but his attitude and form at the moment is comparable to Sturridge.

We look like the team Brendan Rodgers left behind, 3 number tens Firmino, Lallana and Coutinho all coming towards the ball, no pace and nobody making forward runs, and once we lose the ball there is an massive hole in our midfield and teams are running at our central defenders.

Lallana, Origi, Can and Henderson are all out of form and lacking confidence and it's obvious Sturridge is finished as a top striker

It still is practically the same team that's why. There's been zero investment in the squad since.

We're just so fucking slow. Not one player other than Mane that can front a man and beat him with pace.

It's a fucking joke that our best striker in Firmino is shunted out wide because there is literally nobody else in the squad that can play there.

The club have fucked up royally by not planning for January.
