Handball!

The handball rule is getting rewritten by pundits and even ex-referees.

I am going to make this post at a time when a handball decision has gone for us rather than against us, so it can't be interpreted as sour grapes...

Law 12 states, "Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm."

The pivotal word hear is deliberate.

I accept that it is hard to know when someone meant to do something but today when Gini brought the ball down for our second goal, the pundits started making a big song and dance about how we had gotten away with a handball. They even got Howard Webb in a little box (how fitting) in the corner of the screen saying "It was handball. He may not have done it intentionally but it is handball and a lot of refs will give that."

But Howard, if he didn't do it intenionally then it couldn't be deliberate...so its not handball.

What chance of we got when the media and their recruited ex-refs are changing the laws in front of us?

There was another occasion where the ball hit a defenders arm. The defender had deliberately tucked his arms behind his back in that way that Moreno does - you know - to make it obvious he isn't throwing the arms out...and the pundit said..."Not handball, his arms were in a natural position". They were'nt in a natural position you dipshit. The were lodged behind his back in an un-natural position in a bid to demonstrate to the hapless referee that he has no intention of handling it. Because he knows if they are in any other position the ref is likely to blow.

Annoys the fuck out of me when all the crowd goes 'Andball!' The shite must be up there as the worst for this but we've got a number in the ground that shout it too. Same with pens and a player goes down in the box 'Penalty!' they all fucking shout. Gobshites.

If howard webb thinks Gini's was handball, then he's a fucking corrupt ex south yorkshire police cunt. Case proven m'lud.

They should keep it simple. Put contact sensors in the players' shirts, like fencers have, so when the ball touches an arm a giant buzzer goes off, a lightshow begins, Howard Webb then appears as a 50ft disembodied head projected onto the pitch and shouts "Handbaaaaaall!" as glitter cannons go off and MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This" plays in the background.

Either that or stick with deliberate and/or gaining an advantage whilst the arm is in an unnatural position.

The handball rule, and its interpretation, si all over the place. So, too is offside. There was an incident yesterday when Origi, knowing he was offside, made no attempt to get involved with a punt forward. He let Sturridge get beaten in the air (of course), then went to challenge for the 2nd ball - given offside. The exact same set of circumstances happened in the City game, Aguero, I think, reacting the same way as Origi. Didn't get flagged for offside though. Consistency.
