Southampton (H) League Cup semi final 2nd Leg - no shit puns edition

Recommended Posts

Someone's nicked the wheels and put us up on bricks this month.

We were laboured against a side that was prepared to simply sit and play on the break, but still we had more than a few decent chances. A lack of composure undid us when we finally did create those openings.

Otherwise we were toiling until the inevitable sucker punch, which duly came. Puel's Lyon beat us at Anfield with a last-minute sucker punch too, at the fag end of Benitez's reign. There were worrying aspects to our performance that were reminiscent of the fag end of Houllier's reign too.

Just a word on Trent A-A. He's only young and still developing but his passing was dreadful tonight, especially in the second half.

It is looking increasingly as though the manager and the transfer committee have dropped a bollock this month. We knew we'd be without Mane. Matip's availiability was a sticking point. Coutinho is only just coming back from injury. Ings is out for the season. We knew we'd be starting a hectic month stretched pretty thin, and now we seem to be paying for it. We've got no impetus in games at the moment, and no impetus to come off the bench and try to change things.

Two home defeats in a week and all of a sudden, the cup tie against Wolves is looking like a potential banana skin. Then Chelsea come to town, and if they come away with a win, they'd be 13 points clear of us before January is out.

And it was all looking quite rosy a month ago.

Have the wheels come off feels like it, players look knackerd

Mentioned that Klopp's teams tend to tire late in the season due to the obvious, it seems like our poor darlings are fucked half way through a season.

I negged yer ma.

She's dead, plus whilst alive she wouldn't have entertained a spotty teenager still eating Farley's Rusks and a penchant for stamping his feet like a 6 year old.

1 trophy in the last 10 years and our best chance of one this year surrendered.

Our kids will probably lose to Wolves at weekend - then what? Chasing doing an Arsenal for rest of season and winning the top 4 trophy.

Whoopfuckingee

I would take the top 4 trophy the way things are going at the moment.

We probably won't even do that.

can you iamgine this squad trying to juggle 4 comps next season...it can't handle what it has now and you know we won't actually add any depth in summer..we'll lose 2 or 3 add 2 or 3 similar and be no better off.

There is no evidence to support this. In fact, when BVB won the title in 11-12 they won their last 6 games.

The problem is simply a lack of quality.

I was chatting with the youngest lad about the same thing, we'd get mullered in the CL if we got out of the group stage and probably end up mid-table with the extra workload. Of course, the club might strengthen the squad with numbers but that is not what their plan is, or so it seems.

Kloppo - we did well. Dominant. No luck.

missed chances cost us.

Goalsa are what is missing and we can't compare this with other games.

I'm fine with the performance.

Commentator asking him the same Q three times "what was missing?"...Klopp getting pissed off repeating the answer "goals"

This is basically it. We're trying to play possession football with donkeys like Henderson, Can, Clyne, Milner and Lovren. Teams are just letting us have the ball and wait until we give it away. It's just never going to work, especially when we have no pace to offer a different threat.

Harsh on Milner. The rest is fine.

Klopp can't be fine with that - he just can't and if he is we are in more trouble than thought.

There is a reason the goals are missing...well actually a load of reasons - hopefully he has the answers
