Another reason why stats can be misleading. Look at the own goal from Imbula and it's about as understandable as an own goal could be, yet it statistically goes against his name as 'poor' defending. Compare it to Shawcross' horrendous back-pass, which will simply go down as a Sturridge goal.

And what was the deal with a keeper being allowed to wear a colour so similar to the home team? Ridiculous.

Funny seeing this thread lose its collective minds game after game because we're playing 'badly' in the first 20 minutes. It's because opponents are putting in the maximum possible effort to try and get a lead because we are so fit and finish so strong. This isn't Rodgers' batch of fat lads in the park, we are now in the top 2 fittest teams in the league.

think we should change the words of the song to 'we are so fit tra la La La la but we're only in the top 2 fittest we're not top yet in the league or fitness'.

Love reading match threads after the games. 20/20 hindsight and all that but some of the shite spouted at 1-0 down is a joy to read.

Very rarely join the match thread as usually watching the game but the cack spouted by the same old few who change their tune quicker than a faulty Jukebox is hilarious.

Not sure I agree with Jurgen going on about long ball tactics by the opposition after every game.

I thought Hughes got his tactics as right as he could & it nearly worked, if Allen's shot goes in we are in a bit of trouble.

On an overall note , whatever happens with Man City , we have had a fantastic first half to the season compared to reasonable expectations going in.

Nobody can keep up the intensity Stoke had to show for the first 20 minutes, they simply cannot. Our intensity for pretty much 90 minutes leaves the opposition terrified of making just one mistake as they know they will be punished. Teams are pretty much throwing in the towel when they go behind and just hoping the score will not be too embarrassing for them. That intensity seemed to take a dip during the Bournemouth and West Ham games, casualness if you like, but its back now and needs to be with City next on the agenda.

If they go 2-3 up in that 20 min blitz then we'll be tested to the full.

it could easily happen. we should have been 2 down yesterday. we could of course overturn that if we remain calm like we have been doing but interesting to see how we cope if that happens.

Spot on. When you listen to Klopp and the players they mention it themselves. "Once we get used to the opposition's tactics and calm down we control games and are confident in our own abilities."

Teams are stuck between tactics when they play us and the majority come unstuck. Bournemouth was just one of those results which can happen. We'll lose a few more games this season, but if we keep on picking up the majority of points on offer as we have in the first half of the season we'll be in a position the majority thought wouldn't happen.

Klopp is a very good manager but he is keen to learn all the time and it is funnelling its way down to the players, he's a proper manager.

probably been said but going a goal down to Stoke would have caused irritating problems before. wasn't really bothered at the time because it doesn't mean shit now. we simply have some great effective footballers at the mo-ment and the best man in charge.

chelsea having to break club records to stay ahead. we'll be there if they wobble

Having watched us surrender commanding leads for what seems like years, watching us turn to panicking boys when the opposition pulls one back, I am yet to be filled with the same calmness and confidence as most. I'd say more recently there are reasons to be positive about such situations. I can't honestly say I've been able to wash away the effect of the previous years on my nerves, unfortunately.

The reality is we have not panicked when the opposition have scored. Leaving Bournemouth aside - hopefully, a one off - we have allowed Arsenal, Chelsea and West Brom to get within a goal of us and, unlike previous seasons, have coped comfortably where we have previously looked like capitulating.

In years gone by we would sit nervously for the last 10-15 minutes expecting to concede an equaliser; this season, it is us looking likely to score again. In the West Brom game, where many suggest we were hanging on, we had 4 chances to add to our lead. They didn't get much of a sniff.

Bournemouth was the exception. Even my Bournemouth supporting mate was amazed at the result after we had "outclassed" them for 75 minutes. Let's hope we have learned and it doesn't happen again.
