I only know he retired today as loads of Evertonians and Mancs have been going on.about him all day today.

Only tells you how good he really was.  We don't go on and on about their best players, but they certainly do, especially about Gerrard.

For me, on reflecting back on his whole career, the thing that sticks out is how complete he was.  There might have been a few better goalscorers, or a few who covered more ground, or a few whose vision and technique was comparable, etc.

But I can't think of a single one, and that includes the absolute greats of the game, who put it all together the way Gerrard did.  There wasn't a single characteristic you'd want in your central midfielder that he didn't have, and have in abundance.

Legend.

The revolting piece of shite that is El Hadji Diouf has been at it again,,,

I despise him more than any other player that has ever worn the shirt. It was a fucking abomination he ever got to represent us . In a world of cunts he stands out from the crowd.

El Hadji Diouf again slammed former team-mate Steven Gerrard after the Liverpool great confirmed his retirement.

The 36-year-old Champions League and FA Cup winner announced on Thursday he was retiring from professional football.

Diouf, who spent two seasons at Liverpool and has criticised Gerrard previously, took aim at the former midfielder again.

"When I arrived, I showed him that he was nothing," he told SFR Sport

"I asked him, 'What great competition have you played and where do people remember you?

You couldn't have put it better. Absolutely spot on.

One of my dads mate put it perfectly when he said along the lines of "I don't think we realised just how big a player he was until he slipped"

He's spot on.  To us he was Stevie.  Always there, always playing, mostly always boss.  The fact you had cretins from Stoke, and Southampton reveling in his slip shows what a HUGE player he was.  Envied and hated.

And the Bloos, oh the bloos, they hate him because he should've been theirs.  That young lad in his Everton kit they show off as often as they can could've been playing for Everton scoring screamers and winning trophies through force of will alone, but they let him go and the rest is history.  That's why they're so obsessed.  That's why they can tell you what he does on the weekend and where he goes and when his new house in Formby will be ready.  They hate him because they could've loved him like we did.

I'ts almost as if  the phrase about Kopites being gobshites was created for him. ( El  Hadji Diouf- ,not Gerrard, by the way)

One horrible bastard with an  inflated opinion of his ability.

I won't hear a bad word said against Sadio Mane's childhood hero.
