I actually can’t imagine anything worse than being his friend. The shite of paparazzi and all the hangers on, and then that horrible crap of having to deal with a mate who can’t stand because o how much they’ve poured into their belly or stuck up their nose.

 

You even just have to look on the faces of the people with him after Argentina score - they all look miserable.

 

Also, the idea the Argentina team were “pretty shit” is a myth. It must be horrible to be the rest of that squad and have to suffer through that load of crap now being treated as fact. It was a very good team. No question that they wouldn’t have won the World Cup without the incredible brilliance of Maradona, but they were bloody good players. Certainly a lot better than the Argentina squad now.

Probably agree as Messi has been coached from a very young age while Maradona was self taught,if you like. Maradona had more 'natural' ability in my view.

Obviously impossible to prove but I think if Maradona could have lived life as professionally as Messi you'd see he was the greater talent. He had a power and explosiveness that Messi doesn't quite have.

 

Due to him being stone mad we only got to see Maradona in patches and he was definitely finished by 1990 as his legs had gone. When he had his pace he was more or less unplayable.
