One Great Album Wonders

Recommended Posts

Great album, just wasn't sure if it qualified here as it was only ever going to be for one album.

As you were, chaps.

It qualifies, check the faq's.

Guns N' Roses.

I'm tempted to say AC/DC as well. They've done some fab albums before and since, but BiB is the greatest rock album of all time.

Eighties Matchbox B line Disaster- Horse of the Dog

Royal Society is good as well but Horse is on a different level. I can't believe how few people listen to them

Some great replies, thanks.

The Stone Roses (eponymous), Sex Pistols NMTB, and Television's Marquee Moon stand out for me.

Boo Radleys Giant Steps and Jeff Buckley's Grace are great shouts too.

The Who discussion was fascinating. I agree that they are a great band who made many memorable albums, but picking out one which stands alone, and is head and shoulders above the rest is not easy.

A worrying sign is how few contemporary artists and albums gave come up, has the advent of the download, picking and choosing the best, meant that great albums are a thing of the past now?

I know I already said it but the Strokes is right up there too. An album hailed as one of the best of its generation followed by loads of mediocre drivel

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine is far better than anything else they released.

Isn't Anything was great.

The couple of EPs before Isn't Anything - You Made Me Realise and Feed Me With Your Kiss - are an astonishing collection of songs as well. I bought You Made Me Realise twice as I wore my first copy out.

Get out. It's at best a below average "indie" record.

get out of where? it's no boho bedwetter my Dad was a projectionist on Hancocks Half Hour so i've got airtime and a social circle with some instruments somewhere and we just like formed a band and a life viewpoint and voting preference based on that. i'll grant you that sonny jim bobo

honesty. i'll get behind that. but not with all sense of reason so i'm comfortable with that suggestion.

great album
