Bands who stunned us with a great debut, only to find that they had already hit their creative zenith, or ands who surprised us after a few albums with a great one, only to slip back into mediocrity.

I give you;

Stone Roses/Stone Roses

Doobie bros - The Captain and Me

No you couldn't.

Other than Live at Leeds (I'm not counting live albums), I think their other classic albums, Tommy & Quadrophenia are very patchy.

Who's Next is the only studio album The Who made which is brilliant from start to finish in my opinion.

I love The Who before anyone starts, I just don't think they made great albums.
