Was £12 up on that one too. Grrrrr

Got banned by BetVictor a couple of weeks back after two offers where if I bet £10 on a particular match I got a £10 casino bonus. After making £62 and £198 from it in successive weeks the wankers banned me from promos, so another useless account for me.

Started this over the weekend and got very lucky, Coral knew I was trying to blag them not sure how as only my name and DOB were the same.

 

Started up with Ladbrokes and got the £50 free bet even though I'm pretty sure I had an account with them.

 

Put the two bets on with Ladbrokes my £50 and the free £50 one and then went to lay them and the bets never got matched up. So I've still got the £100 in Betfair and £133 in Ladbrokes with another bet coming in today and then I'll move on.

 

Defiantly making sure I can lay my bet first from now on though, that could have been a disaster.

Never lay first, you're putting up way more liability with the lay bet than the back bet.

I always make sure I can back the bet first. Some bookies restrict bets without telling you so if you've laid off £50 with a £300- £400 liability and then find out the bookie has restricted you to a tenner, it's scrambling round for a bookie to take it and minimise your losses.

Doesn't that leave you exposed if you put the primary bet on then can't lay it? Then the primary bet loses?

It does leave you exposed, but not as exposed as the example Furmedge just gave.

 

If you can't get the lay bet on at the price you wanted, then you'll have to take a worse price and have a bigger qualifying loss or look at a different exchange, Betfair is usually better for liquidity than Smarkets, but you pay more commission with Betfair.

Ah right, think I understand now. I've only been betting small and at around 1.5 to 2.0 so my liability hasn't been crazy but if the odds are bigger then the liability goes up and you're way out of pocket?

£50 on a 14/1 horse, imagine laying that and it winning and you haven't got your back bet on because the bookies website went down just before the race started.

Coral's new Ts and Cs state that they share information with other bookmakers regarding customer accounts and details. They are not alone in this either.
