Direct a little disappointing last night I thought. Remastered Skyward Sword but I've already got that on Wii.

Remastered Ninja Gaiden collection.

Splatoon 3 but never played 1 or 2.

Interested in Mario Golf. I just hope you can play normal golf - Mario Tennis was ruined cos you can't just have a normal game of tennis, it's all power ups and shit.

I would love a sequel to Wii Sports Resort. I still play it now!

There's some good stuff and some meh stuff. But there's still some things further down the line which will appear in future (Metroid will surely appear soon...)

There are some good deals on the e-shop this week. Tempted by quite a few, even though I'd rather physical copies.

Not sure I'll be going for the Capcom arcade thing - Ive got both the Reloaded and Remixed collections on PSP, plus I've got most Capcom stuff on my hacked Vitas.

I started out wanting physical but when I got the Switch Lite, I realised that (unlike the 3DS) you can install a downnloaded game onto at least two Switch consoles and play them independently under your chosen profile. On the 3DS, once a game was downloaded, that was the end of it and you had to buy it again to use it on another console. Since then I've mostly gone down the digital route with 3rd party software and normally physical on the first party as they hold their values.

I wouldn't have bothered with the Capcom download but as it's free, it's rude not to.

Any hidden gem games on the eshop I should be looking at? I bloody love this console.

It's awesome, isn't it? There are lots of videos on 'hidden gems' on youtube. SwitchUp (hidden gem collections) and Switch Corner (weekly special offers) are reliable, as is Star Or Shovelware (honest reviews on whether games are star rated out of 5 or not rated at all - shovelware).

You can also browse the opencritic listing of top rated Switch games...https://opencritic.com/browse/switch

And you can also find out what Switch games are available at a discount (but you'd have to know how good the games are first...https://www.dekudeals.com/

Depending on the following...

Style of game

Budget

Age of player

Preference of Independent/Third Party or First Party

Preference of physical or digital

And to a lesser extent...

Docked or undocked.

The following five games that I would personally consider to be gems are the following (only my opinion and there are many more than just this!...

I've chosen five very different games here, I would definitely advise using all the websites above to see how to make the best decisions!

What a guy, what a post. Golf story looks ace!

Golf story is way better than it looks and also way better than it has the right to be. Turning golf into a fun, entertaining, child-friendly, adult challenging romp is no mean feat. The others are absolutely brilliant too especially Donut County and Katamari which are also cheap as chips at the moment.

Bought Metro 2033 for £9. Pretty good, and looks good in handheld mode.

Think I'll get Burnout Paradise today (£12).

Have you got need for speed? That is considered superior on switch. The metro games are really good, underrated. The third one is probably best.

It's on my wishlist, but not on sale. I've got a Need for Speed on the Vita but never really played it.

Capcom Arcade looks pretty good - it's nicely presented and has bags of info about controls and options etc. I'm not sure it's enough to make me pay for games which I've bought/obtained several times before, but for anyone who hasn't I think it'd be a good buy.

Ghosts and Goblins though - fucking hell, I've played it on and off since it was released and can barely get off the first level. There was a really good version on the PSP (actually 2 - a western one and Japanese one).

Few more recommendations from the sale.

Steamworld Dig 1&2: Two great games in the series, the first one is an obscenely cheap £2.24.  It's a puzzle platformer with some metroidesque elements in terms of how you develop your abilities over the course of the story.

Child of Light: This is a platformer/RPG, combat is done in a more RPG-style turn-based system, but is always engaging and the game itself is beautiful. Under a fiver at the moment.

Ape Out: Ultra-stylised top-down beat em up type deal where you play an escaped gorilla trying to break out from, something. £6.74. Good therapeutic fun.

Valiant Hearts: Awesome 2D WW1 game, puts you in the shoes of a few characters in a journey across Europe showing the devastation. £4.80.

Finally, not on sale, but The Swindle is one of my favourite games of the last generation a stealthy platformer where you play a master thief preparing for a grand heist. Bit of a learning curve but well worth picking up when it's next on offer.

Tried playing the Cloud version of Hitman 3 on the Switch - was a mess. Probably more to do with my average broadband than anything. The internet in this country is shite, and I can't see cloud gaming as a major thing for a few years.

Definitely. Google stadia has really struggled. Geforce Now should have been a masterstroke but it's impractical. Great ideas let down by poor infrastructure.

I think I got it for £12 digital - worth it for that.

I rarely buy games full price - probably Mario Kart was the last one I did.

Yes, same. I recently picked up Crash Nitro Fuelled Racing and it might even be better than Mario Kart. I think it was reduced to £14.99, a steal. Only thing that puts me off burnout paradise is it is an old game and may be better on other platforms.

Yeah Crash is brilliant - I bought it on sale last Christmas for about £22. I had the original on PSone which I loved, then got the follow up on PSP but that was never as good as it had some exploration element. I've played the original on emulators and was made up when they rereleased it.

I'm not sure it's quite as good as Mario Kart but it's close. Another great Kart game was Sonic and Sega Racing on the Wii (the commentary is great). I've got the follow up on the Vita but it's not as good.

Big talk today of the Switch 2/Pro coming this year.

I'd be surprised. Not that I'll be buying it anyway, I'll be skipping a generation. Plus I'll be pissed off if the Switch doesn't get it's own Mario Kart and Zelda.

Could be 2 + 2 = 5 but...
