That 'Rubbing Bobby's nose for good luck' bollocks was made up by some non-local tour guide a few years back. It is not good luck, it ruins his nose and means he has to be fixed every year or so.

 

I don't blame tourists for doing it but it's time they put a fence round him or something.

 

You can spit on the Heart of Midlothian round the corner if you want traditional Edinburgh good luck.

Having  the same problem in Dublin I believe with Molly colonel Bosom.!
