We were shit first half, and it was only Mourinho's extreme shithousery that ensured we went in to half time at 0-0. Any manager with a bit more ambition would have pressed for a goal whilst we were terrible, yet they actually let us regain some composure in the last 15 minutes of the half. 

 

Second half or, more accurately, the moment Sturridge left the pitch, we dominated the game and they basically had nine players on the edge of their box with Ibrahimovic just watching from about ten yards ahead of them. Sadly, they have a world class keeper. If they didn't we'd have won 2-0.

Sturridge is a complete waste of space and I'd rather see Firmino, Origi, or Ings, start ahead of him. We need our striker to actually be part of the press from the front, we need him to be making runs off the ball to offer the players behind him something to aim at.

Yeah, I think it's gotten to the point where we are a better team when Sturridge doesn't play. I've suspected this for a bit since Klopp became our manager last season, but it's pretty clear now, imo. Even when he's in form and scores goals, I still think he hurts our general play more than he helps.

Well, we did our best to gift them a win with some of the worst passing you could ever wish to see in the first half.  They didn't want it.  Mourinho is a coward, but we have plenty in our team and I'd rather we addressed that than worried about Mourinho.

Sturridge wasn't great tonight, but to be fair to him he had no support. Mane had his worst game for us, and Firmino kept giving the ball away time and again. His pass completion rate was 59%! Any striker not named Suarez would've struggled tonight.

Lallana looked very dangerous when he came on, despite him playing in midfield.  It didn't really need a Suarez, it just needed the front three to not be continually giving the ball away and making bad decisions.
