Some of his forward passes through their midfield were absolutely brilliant yesterday.

He's not shy about carrying the ball forward, either - all the way to the opponent's box, if needed. When he used to do this with Lovren, Mignolet and Moreno behind him, I'd have palpitations.  Van Dijk, Alisson and Robbo inspire a wee bit more confidence.

He definitely benefits from better players around him. However I think his reputation has taken a hit since he's hardly been free of injury over a prolonged period of time since he arrived. When he plays he usually plays well and I prefer him to Lovren when both are fit.

Fractured collarbone, out for six weeks. Quite a blow as Matip on current form is clearly a better player than Lovren, at least with our tactics and style of play.

Shame he can’t stay fit, I doubt he’s got the body to play at this level.

To be fair to him he was on the receiving end of a heavy clattering from that Koulibaly - looked like a terrible challenge.

Fucking hell. I know it’s not his fault, but it so frustrating.

2 fit senior centre halves going into a stupidly busy christmas and new year period where we have to play both manc clubs and arsenal is not good.

Add in TAA maybe being out too and it is a real worry.

Be interesting to see what Klopp does.

We are going to see Fabinho and Milner in defence for certain and kids on bench too I would guess.

If we get a knock or two on top we are in bother.
