The biggest gamble of the FSG reign ?

Now , Mane is a good player, there is no doubting that, but a marquee player ? Im not having that. It worries me that we look at the like of Utd bringing in Mkhitaryan and Zlatan, City with Gundogan and Nolito, Chelsea with Batshuahi,Cuadrado, and Atsu, and all we seem to be doing is attempting to scavenge around in the bargain basement.

Leicester proved last season that its not always the big names that win you trophies, but as a general rule of thumb, the teams that spend the big bucks on the big names tend to win the silverware come May.

last season Klopp did really well with a team inherited from Rodgers, there was some proper crap in that squad that needed shifting , and still is, he has brought in many new faces so next season there can be no excuses for failure.

Can you imagine the fucking shitstorm if we end the transfer window with a nett spend of fuck all and get off to a really poor start ? Imagine we win nowt again next season ?This season, on the back of record breaking tv deals, ridiculous amounts of money at hand , is the perfect opportunity to attract seasoned , quality internationals to compliment our promising youth.

Is this really a genuine selection tactic , or are FSG just fucking tight fisted cunts ? With Klopp hinting there may be no more signings, we may go into the season without a quality defensive central midfielder, and with a shit left back.

This would be inexcusable in my opinion, spend some fucking money on a bit of experienced quality !

If once again this squad fails next season, there is going to be one biblical type shitstorm.

They are utter cunts preying on our patience and our love for the club.

They really need to fuck off this season and sell us to someone who will at least give us some excitement by signing some world class players.

They are leeches slowly sucking us dry. Each season passes and our high expectations drop further and further. The shit we accept now would have been unacceptable just a few years ago.

Get the fuck out, you minimal spending, moneyball fuck artists.

Maybe if the players and the manager could actually put together a decent league season for once, we might actually gain the clout to buy top players. This thought that the owners deliberately avoid signing top players is hilarious and it's pure delusion.

So are you saying we simply cant attract top players ? Two words for you . China. Money.

Yes, I'm saying exactly that. I'm sure the likes of Mkhitaryan and Gundogan would have loved coming to a club that regularly finishes in 7th place.

They are footballers, they couldnt give a flying fuck, they will play for whoever pays the best. Do you think the current crop of quality players plying their trade in China went there because of the quality of the league they are playing in ? behave.

2013-14 was a very decent league season, given that we haven't won it since 1990, yet we still failed to sign any genuine top class players.

The biggest gamble was employing Rodgers because they knew he would be made up managing Liverpool and not demanding all kinds. If we had an experienced managed at that time we could have won the league but Rodgers couldn't organise a defence to save his life.

Leicester winning the title was good for the sport but not good for us because they think you don't have to spend shitloads to beat the money clubs.

If you think the club has the financial capability to compete with the likes of United or City for players, then you aren't worth discussing with. Our highest paid player is on 150k a week. United's is on 300k.

We have more than enough money to sign top quality players from abroad. At present we arent even going toe to toe with the likes of Arsenal, Spurs etc. What does that tell you ?

we've been buying the best players from other premier league teams (usually mid - bottom table) for at least a decade now.

I remember when we bought zenden and bellers in 2006, rafa was telling anyone who'd listen we'd bought the best players from boro and blackburn (I think bellamy came from). Did we buy west hams best player benayoun that summer as well? Pennant came from some shit team as well didn't he?

the next year we tried to buy villas best player Barry and we bought spurs best player keane.

the year before we bought southamptons best player crouch.

and who could forget 18m for Glo Jo in 2009 - portsmouths best player.

after the hodgson debacle when we couldn't even attract other premier league teams best players, when kenny came in we went back to it with a vengeance. carroll, downing, bellers, charlie adam, enrique - all arguably the best players at their clubs.

this is nothing new but if we're measuring it's success in trophies it has yielded 1 fa cup and a league cup. we've been in all the finals and had a couple of league challenges but we haven't won enough to prove this philosophy works I don't think.

What on earth are you talking about? Spurs have had a negative net spend for the past five years and have built their team primarily through academy kids and buying young players. As far as Arsenal are concerned, they are 1. Richer than us, and 2. Champions League regulars. Of course they will sign players we can't.

Nothing to do with getting over 90 million for Bale then ?

No, not really. Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Alderweireld and Lloris are their best players. Only one of those was signed the same year as the Gareth Bale transfer.

they got 30m for Modric and 91m for bale, thats pretty much why they have a nett spend of zero. When we were competing for the likes of Paulinho,Eriksen, Sigurdsson, we simply wouldnt pay the money the wanted.

While two finals and some good signs were there to see last season, the truth is we are at the start of Klopp's time with us. He is currently having his first preseason to train the players and he has brought 7 new players in, and shipped a few out with more to follow.

I'm willing to see what he can do at Liverpool. He's not afraid to spend money, but his style is not to spend just for the sake of it. He sees the quality the player has first and foremost, rather than the price tag. It will be interesting to see if Klavan does a good job for us, at around and eighth of the cost of some of the duff centre backs other teams have bought, for example.

We don't spend the most money in the market as we are not able to do that. The teams that can do it are either Sheikh/Oligarch teams, or a team like Man Utd, who have enjoyed two decades of success in the moneyed Sky era. But that doesn't mean we are paupers. Klopp has been and will be backed in the market. If this summer ends up being around break even, in terms of money spent and money brought in, then that tells me two things.

1. The squad was bloated and we had a number of players who were more valuable to Liverpool being sold, rather than being retained.

2. We should still have money to spend in future. Perhaps we have identified one or two e.g. Dahoud, who for whatever reason can't/won't come here at this stage.

I can be patient and let Klopp do his work.

who like? kenny?

suarez wasnt tearing up trees then like he was under rodgers so maybe rodgers had a part in him becoming the player he was and is.

who's to say what another manager could have got out of suarez that season. he couldnt have got much more. yes someone could have got us defending better but who's to say what role he would have had suarez playing or what relationship they would have had.

you're basically saying all that was missing was half decent defending and everything else was great so if we removed rodgers and brought in a coach who could set up a defence and still play the same great foorball we d have won the league in style. In theory thats possible but its also possible that same great attacking football would have been lost as well.
